She shrugged. “I mean, it doesn’t feel great, but I don’t think it’s that bad. But I’m more used to magic than you probably are.”

We left and headed up the stairs. I walked closer to Elize and knocked her shoulder against mine. “Things will get better.”

She nodded. “I hope.”

“If anything, just think about me in lacy underwear.”

She snorted as we emerged from the stairs and started down the hallway. Her cackle echoed around the hallway.

Just then, we both stopped when we spotted Ivan running down the hallway. He looked panicked as he came to a stop, out of breath.

“Ivan?” I frowned. “What’s wrong?”

“Pack members…” he gasped for air as he grabbed at his chest. “It’s a mess.”

“Shit, is it the convent?”

Elize’s face went pale as she watched Ivan. “Ivan, breathe. What is going on? What’s going on with the Convent? Did the alarms go off?”

Ian shook his head. “It’s not the convent.”

I was confused now. “What is going on then, Ivan? What are you talking about?”

“Dustin just called.” He pulled himself up. “Our pack members are attacking Dustin’s.”

My eyes widened. “What? When… that…” I couldn’t wrap my head around his words. And then it clicked.

“Shit.”

“That doesn’t sound good,” Elize said.

“Shit, shit, shit!” I ran a hand through my hair. “Fuck. Alright. We need to head over there right away. Call a couple of guys and have them meet us there.”

Ivan nodded and turned on his heels. Elize turned to me. “What are you going to do?”

I didn’t even know what to do. I had no idea how bad it was or whether anyone was hurt. I wouldn’t know until we got there.

“I don’t know. I don’t… fuck.”

“Breath,” Elize reached out, placing her hand on my chest. “We will go there and handle it.”

I nodded. “We need to go now.”

“I’ll drive, so you can call Dustin and get more information.”

She grabbed the keys from me, and we hurried out to my car. I pulled my phone out and called Dustin. The phone rang a few times before I got to his voicemail.

“Shit.”

“What?”

“I got his voicemail.” I pinched my eyes. “That doesn’t mean anything good.”

“It’s okay.” She turned the car over, and the car came to life.

“Hey, this is Dustin. Leave a message.”

“Hey Dustin, it’s Troy. Please call me back as soon as you get this. I just got word from Ivan. Elize and I are heading your way.” I ended the call.
