He’s grinning huge now, and I’m having the hardest time not laughing. “I’m so stupid,” I mutter, mostly to myself. “Why did I think this would be hard?”
“You thought it would be hard to compliment me?”
“I thought it would be hard to tell you that I’m freaking crazy about you, Bodhi Lakra. But it’s not hard. At all. It’s just us.”
He blinks a few times, wetness coating his eyes, and my heart melts. “That’s a big one,” I say, nodding to his face. “The way you’re not afraid to show emotion. Totally attractive.”
“See, all those guys who’ve ever teased me for being a wimp had no idea that I was actually working on my game.”
I burst out laughing. “Bodhi—”
But then his hands are cradling my cheeks, his face very close to mine. My mouth grows dry as I stare at him, his beautiful brown eyes close enough that I pick out every tiny variation in their color, little flecks of gold scattered over darker chocolate tones. “I’m going to kiss you.”
“Okay,” I whisper.
“And then I’m going to tell you all the things aboutyouthat I find attractive.”
“Sounds good.”
“Unless, of course, you had more things on your list. You didn’t exactly explain what you meant about “this whole thing” and I’m pretty curious.”
“Bodhi.”
“Yes, Everly?”
“Please stop talking and kiss me.”
I feel his lips curving into a smile even as they cover mine. “Whatever you say.”
