“You’re not going to sabotage your sister’s show. And you’re not going to ruin her clothes.” His expression turns thoughtful. “Though itisinteresting to think about which one of those two things would piss her off more.”

“Well, let’s go find out.”

He laughs again, giving my hand a squeeze. “We’re not leaving and you’re not messing with Vega’s stuff. You’re going to remember that you’re the older sister and you’re far too mature for these games.”

“I am so not that mature,” I grumble, but Bodhi’s grin has turned huge and it’s basically impossible not to smile at least a little when he looks like that.

“The way I see it,” he says. “Vega is not to blame for this.”

“How do you figure?”

“Because your older cousins are the ones who started it.”

My mouth drops open. “They probably recruited her into their nefarious schemes! She’s a child!”

He throws his head back and laughs. “So far these schemes have given us a fancy dinner and a day at Disney—hardly nefarious. Besides, your sister is a teenager. Not really a child anymore.”

I want to argue with him—Vega is my baby sister and I refuse to hear otherwise—but I don’t, slumping down in frustration and embarrassment instead. “I’m sorry, Bodhi. I’m sorry they keep doing this shit. If it’s making you uncomfortable—”

“I’m not uncomfortable, Lele,” he says, squeezing my hand. “I get to hang out with you all day at my favorite place.”

It’s a very Bodhi thing to say—sweet and complimentary—and a familiar warmth fills my chest. Not so familiar? The butterflies in my tummy that accompany that warmth.

Why do I keep having these reactions to him? It’sBodhi.

I try to push down those thoughts, not wanting him to be more uncomfortable. He can say he’s not feeling that way as much as he wants, but how could he not? My whole family seems intent on setting him up with someone he doesn’t have romantic feelings for. Going all moony on him would only make it worse.

“I still want to get back at them,” I grumble.

His eyes light up. “I have some ideas about that.”

“You do?”

He tugs my hand, leading me back out into the pathway. “Yup. Come on, let’s go ride rides and mess with your family.”
