“Ooh,” Rose says, clapping her hands. “We should have a name. A team name for our awesome plan.”
“The Bodhi Bros?” River suggests.
“We don’t need a name,” I argue, “because this isn’t happening.”
“Oh, it’s happening, buddy,” Will says. “Better get used to it.”
“You guys—”
“I propose we have weekly meetings,” River suggests, still typing away. “To discuss progress and strategize.”
“Well since the only strategy you’ve given me so far is to roll up my sleeves, I’m not sure there’s going to be much progress,” I snap. I point at Fox, whose head is resting against the table. “Fox is passed out right now. Real crack team you’ve assembled.”
“I don’t know why you’re being so grumpy about this,” Rose says. “You get that this is basically the set-up of a romantic comedy movie, right?”
“Seriously, man,” Leo agrees. “What do you love more than a good rom-com?”
Okay, they have a point there. I have been known to watch the occasional rom-com.Notting Hillis a freaking classic, I don’t care what anyone says.
“We still need a name,” River says.
“We really don’t.”
But they ignore me. “Love Warriors,” someone suggests.
“What about the Cupid Brigade?”
“Too cutesy,” Leo scoffs.
“Team Bodhi,” Fox says, his voice muffled against the table. I guess he wasn’t passed out after all.
“You know, that’s not bad,” Rose says.
“Simple. I like it,” Will agrees.
“Awesome,” River says. “I set up a text thread for us and shared the planning document.”
“You guys—”
“Just accept it, Bodhi,” Leo says. “This is happening.”
I’m pretty sure I’m going to be sick. And I don’t think it has anything to do with the tequila.
