Just then, he stepped back to pull his phone from his pocket, then dialed a number without hesitation. When the man on the other end answered, Viktor put the phone on speaker, then asked, “Do you remember the direction that I gave you if you hear any gunshots?”
“Of course, Sovietnik,” the deep voice automatically replied.“We are to remain at our posts until we hear from you or until after your wife has left the premises.”
“Just making sure,” Viktor lied.“And to be clear, that direction has not changed.”
“Yes, sir.”
When Viktor hung up, all I could do was stare up at him, completely flabbergasted.“Are you out of your mind?”
“Maybe I’ve just finally found the one thing that I want more than my own life,” he replied, and that’s when I knew that there’d be no coming back from this.
That’s when I knew that Viktor was serious.
Chapter 9
Viktor~
As soon as Aurora lowered the gun, I reached out, grabbed her by the throat, then yanked her towards me, slamming my lips down on hers like one more second without touching her would have killed me.
When I heard the gun drop on the floor, I didn’t care about it possibly going off.All I cared about was how my wife was kissing me back, and the relief was enough to almost drop me to my knees. Then, when she reached up to grab my shirt in her hands, it was all I could do not to consume her completely.
She believed me.
Even though she still had no proof of my innocence, Aurora was choosing to believe me, and that was a generosity that I would never be able to repay.Of course, knowing her the way that I did, this could simply be a ruse to infiltrate the enemy to get her revenge, but it was a chance that I was willing to take.I was literally willing to risk my life to have this woman, and if that wasn’t a sign that I was already in love with this crazy menace, then I didn’t know what was.
Pulling back from the kiss, I reached down to rip her blouse off her body, and I hadn’t been prepared for the way that seeing the bandages on her arm and waist would affect me.Aurora was standing before me, her tits presented to me in the prettiest yellow bra ever, but my eyes only cared about the two flesh-colored bandages that were covering her wounds.
I also knew that both injuries were going to leave a scar, and Aurora was the type of woman to reject cosmetic surgery just to make me suffer, which I’d gladly do if it meant that I was able to keep her with me forever.Plus, truth be told, I didn’t deserve the grace of her covering up the scars. Not that I’d ever forget, but the sight of them would always be a reminder to not take my wife for granted.
“What’s wrong?”she asked as she dipped her head to look up at me.
I dropped my forehead against hers.“I just need a second.”
“Why?”
Instead of answering her with the brutal truth, I took her face in my hands, then kissed her again, this time slow and purposeful. As much as I wanted to bend her over to fuck her hard enough to make up for these past couple of weeks, I had to remember that she’d just been shot and stabbed, and I’d have to be an asshole of the highest order to not care about that.
