“Anyway, are you ready for your boys’ night?” he asks to change the subject.
I nod.
“I am, even though I’m not sure what you have planned, and dad refused to tell me what he’s doing with Serenity.”
“It’ll be a good weekend,” he says.
I look at him and my mouth drops open.
“A whole weekend? I thought it was just the evening,” I state curiously.
“You can spend more than a few hours away from your bride,” he mutters while rolling his eyes.
“No, I can’t!” I snap.
“Well, you are going to. Dad and Serenity will be gone for a few days too, so she won’t even be home,” he tells me.
“He’s taking her out of the palace?!” I shout. I’m ready to portal to dad to give him a piece of my mind. He can’t protect her himself.
“Are you telling me that I can’t keep my children safe?” my dad’s voice shouts in my head.
“I didn’t mean it like that,” I start.
“How did you mean it? Between your bride and me, we have enough power to protect ourselves,” he says.
“You know I’m just worried about her, since we can’t find Furcas or Bernael,” I tell him.
“Just for the doubt, I’m tacking on an extra day,” he says.
“But-” I start.
“Do you want to make it two extra days?” he asks slowly.
“No father,” I reply.
I turn and look at Lorenzo who looks like he’s holding back laughter.
“Wait until it’s your turn,” I mutter.
“You never know when dad is listening. You can say his name, and he immediately checks in,” Lorenzo says.
“Maybe if we say his name three times, he will appear,” I say.
“I heard that,” my dad says but, this time, it isn’t in my head. I turn around to see him and Serenity standing there. She looks very excited about whatever they are doing. I instantly feel bad for thinking that they would stay in the house. She has been cooped up for too long.
“Thought you might want to say ‘bye’ before we leave,” Serenity says and rushes towards me.
“Have fun with whatever it is, baby,” I say before I kiss her.
“You too! Papa Lucifer said he would let you know we are safe every day. So, if you don’t hear from us by nightfall, come looking,” she says like she isn’t giving me a mini heart attack with her words.
“Don’t say things like that,” I hiss into her ear.
“Sorry, but you need to know just in case,” she tells me.
“Just be safe. If anything feels off, leave immediately,” I tell her.
“Will do,” she says before giving me a soft, quick kiss and leaving with my father.
