I tightened my arms around him as I took his cock even deeper, my legs winding around his waist. My voice echoed through the room as we moved together, my stomach coiling with pleasure. Every muscle tightened, winding up as he drove me to the edge again.

“Evie.”

His arms wrapped around me and I squeaked as he suddenly pulled out and flipped me over. He grabbed my hips and shoved his cock inside me again. I buried my face against the blankets, crying out his name over and over.

Matthew squeezed my hips. “I’m so close—fuck.”

Our bodies slapped together as he drove into me harder. He gave a few more thrusts until he went still. I pushed my hips back, panting as he came, filling the condom.

He leaned forward, catching his breath as he kissed my shoulder. I smiled as I melted into the blankets. Our breaths synced and he hummed against me.

“That was amazing,” I whispered.

“It was.” Another kiss. “I want more.”

“Already? I need water if we’re doing that again.”

“I’ll get you all the water you want. Proud of you for drinking some.” Another kiss. “You need water to have stronger orgasms, you know.”

“Lies,” I teased. “You can’t taunt me into drinking more water with such promises.”

“I’m absolutely certain I can.”

I grinned as he slowly eased out of me. He pulled his condom off and disposed of it, then joined me back in bed with a glass of water in his hand.

Reluctantly, I took a sip, then wrinkled my nose and drank more when he gave me a flat look. Wordlessly, I handed it back to him, then scoffed.

“You can’t make me drink water then not have any yourself,” I said.

He wrestled me back down into the blankets, our heads landing on the pillows. “I can,” he said. “Can and will.”

“Diabolical.”

He chuckled and pushed my hair out of my face, kissing the tip of my nose. “Stay. Have more sex with me. Sleep in my arms. In my bed. I’ll make you breakfast in the morning.”

I didn't even need a second to think. “Only if you insist.”

“I do,” he chuckled softly.

“Okay.” I smiled against his chest. “I’ll stay.”

CHAPTER TEN

Austin

Maybe I’d imagined what Evie said to me.

That’s what I’d almost convinced myself of during my drive over to Dallas’s auto shop. I’d asked him if he was available for a chat three days ago but he’d been so busy with June and Madi, he hadn’t been able to meet until now.

Even Mateo and Levi had been wrapped up with my sister. Everyone was always so busy nowadays.

I was happy for them, of course. A small part of me missed how things used to be, but I’d watched love heal some of the broken parts in Dallas and Avery.

I slowed as I turned onto a road at the edge of town, my heart thumping in my chest. I shouldn’t have driven this way. I could already feel sweat breaking out along my spine.

The cemetery was just a block over. Over the last few years, a family ritual had formed around his birthday where we’d grab a pack of beer, sit around his grave and drink them, and talk about our memories of our dad. The rest of the year, I always avoided driving down this damn road.

So why today?
