At the passenger door of his SUV, he caressed her cheek with the back of his finger. “What about time for us?”

“Always,” she replied as she squeezed his ass.

After she got in, he let his gaze linger on hers. “I love you. Damn, that feels good to tell you that.” He kissed her, shut the door, and got behind the wheel.

They drove to The Blue Suit Club, parked in a lot across the street. She moved to the cargo area of the vehicle where she pulled out her night binoculars. He moved to the back seat, pulled a small container from his go-bag.

After extracting a tiny robotic fly, he paired it with his phone, cracked the back window, and piloted the spycam onto the B in Blue, angled it toward the parking lot, and activated it.

“How often do you have to charge that?” she asked.

“This one’s solar powered.”

“Isn’t that a Crockett Wilde invention?”

“Yeah. You know him?” he asked.

“No, but I’ve read about him.”

“He’s a great guy. Super innovative.”

“Sin’s gonna ask his wife to do a story about the missing women.”

“Smart. Your idea?”

“Yup.”

“That’ll piss Karen off.”

“I hope it does,” Slash bit out. “I want to put heat on Greg and flush him out of hiding.” Slash peered through the night binos. “What about a mini drone in the orgy room?”

“We can try, but Crockett didn’t think it would work in a red room. Too dark.”

“It’s dark out now,” she said.

“There’s lights on the building and in the parking lot.”

They grew silent, watching out the tinted windows. He loved having her by his side, loved partnering with her on this case.

“Luciano found the foster parent who was molesting the kids,” she murmured.

“The one Jilly warned you about?”

“Yeah. His name’s Elwood Tosh. According to Luciano, that was an alias, one of several. He’s bounced around the DMV. He’s also fostered children in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee.”

“Was he reported?”

“Several times, but he’d leave town, find another unattached woman, move in, and start collecting foster kids again. Since he’s never even been arrested, he’s not in the system, not on law enforcement’s radar.”

“Are you sure you want to go after him?”

She lowered her goggles. “I heard him sexually assaulting the other kids, more than once. It was soul-crushing and terrifying, and he hadn’t even touched me. When I ran, I promised myself that I would hunt him down and kill him. That crazy vow drove me into law enforcement. There are so many monsters out there, but this is the one I always knew I’d take out.”

“Luciano told you not to go alone,” he murmured.

She peered through the binos. “There’s a man exiting his car. Two o’clock.”

Using the drone’s camera, Carrera homed in on the clubber. “Not him.”
