“Go change. I’ll meet you downstairs.” She leaned up, pressed her lips to his and kissed him good.

Five minutes later, he found them sitting in the family room. Luciano had brought a bottle of Santini Chianti, poured himself and G-ma each a glass. As expected, his cousin looked sharp in a black Santini sport coat, black shirt, black pants.

Luciano rose from the sofa, pulled him in, and kissed both his cheeks. “It’s like last night never happened. G-ma is a ball of energy.”

“Keep an eye on her,” Carrera said.

“I got this,” Luciano replied. “G-ma, what are we gonna do?”

A smile wrinkled her face. “Drink wine, tell stories.”

“Stories?” Carrera asked.

Luciano flashed a grin. “I make up stories about being an assassin and tell her about the bad guys I take out.”

“I’m not so sure you’re making up those stories anymore,” G-ma murmured.

Luciano hitched an eyebrow. “Why’s that?”

Carrera and Slash exchanged glances.

Luciano shook his head. “Slash, did you have me on speaker?”

Slash stayed silent.

“Don’t scold her,” G-ma said. “I won’t say a word.” She waved Carrera and Slash off. “Go.”

“Can I have a word?” Slash asked Luciano.

“I’m interested,” G-ma said.

“No,” Luciano replied.

They walked into his home office, shut the double doors.

“I had my suspicions your cousin was doing more than running his company,” G-ma said to Carrera. “Do you work with him?”

“G-ma?—”

“Never mind,” she said. “I already know the answer.”

Slash and Luciano returned to the family room.

After saying goodbye to G-ma, Carrera and Slash left out the garage. To his surprise, her motorcycle was parked beside his. “I thought you stopped riding.”

“Never, but I’ve been too busy to ride.”

“How’d you get it over here?”

“My magic carpet.”

“Smart ass.”

“I rode it over, walked home, packed my stuff, and drove back in my ALPHA SUV.” She flashed him a smile. “It wasn’t difficult. Whatisdifficult is finding Greg and the arsonist so I can slice their fucking hearts out.”

“Tell me how you really feel?” he quipped.

“Angry as hell,” she bit out. “Now, let’s go find a monster.”
