Wesley stared at him. “For the obvious reason.”

“What’s that?”

“Do you not—do you actually not know? Do I know something your paranormal arse doesn’t?”

“Probably lots of things,” Sebastian said honestly. “You’re very smart.”

Wesley grimaced. “Actually, I have, at least on one occasion, done something that wasn’t smart in the least.”

Sebastian frowned. “Why do you look guilty all of a sudden?”

“Do I?” Wesley said weakly.

“You never look guilty,” said Sebastian. “You have no shame.”

Wesley rubbed his temples. “Truly, I assumed you had to know of all this.”

“Know all what?”

Wesley gave the restaurant a quick glance, then leaned in and said quietly, “Did you really not know that Arthur and Rory are lovers?”

Sebastian stared. “Arthur...and Rory?”

“Yes,” said Wesley. “They’ve been fucking since January. They’re stupidly in love.”

Sebastian sat back in his chair, eyes wide. “That explains so much.”

“How did you not figure it out?” Wesley demanded. “They’re not subtle in the least.”

Sebastian made a face. “I don’t notice that kind of stuff.”

“Probably too busy feeding cats,” Wesley said. “But no one thought to tell you?”

“Why would they? Arthur and Rory knew me as a villain; why would they trust me with that secret?”

“I thought Miss Robbins would have told you.”

“Jade doesn’t know I like men too,” Sebastian said. “She would not give away her friends’ secrets, even to other friends.” He tilted his head. “Isn’t Arthur much older than Rory?”

“Quite.” After a moment, Wesley pursed his lips. “Although I suppose seven years isn’t that much more than us.”

“Wait.” Sebastian furrowed his brow. “We’re not the same age?”

Wesley pinched the bridge of his nose. “Are you serious right now?”

“Then how old are you?”

“How old am—you don’t know how old I am?”

“Twenty-six?” Sebastian guessed.

Wesley’s gaze flicked up, staring at Sebastian over his hand with an extremely unimpressed expression. “You cannot believe I’m younger than you. Youbetter notbelieve that.”

“Well—”

“I went towar. In1914.”

Sebastian did some quick math. “So you’re twenty...nine?”
