“What did you call me?” Chelsea steps around Leo and the cocky bastard leans back against the doorframe. Fucker is delusional enough to think this little catfight is about him.
“W.H.O.R.E.” Kendall spells it out very slowly and it takes everything inside of me not to laugh.
“Babe.” I reach out and she shrugs me off.
“Please let this play out.” Leo chuckles, never taking his eyes off the two of them.
“I dated him first,” Chelsea says in a rush and even I have to fight my laughter because I knew what was coming. Kendall truly has no filter.
“Sweetheart you may have gone on a date with him, but he was thinking of me the entire time. He showed up at the bar that night to see me. He was at the bar talking to me about the night he and I had shared not too long before that. I’m the reason there was never a second date. I would say that I’m sorry for that, but I’m not.”
Chelsea opens her mouth to say something but no words come out.
“Now Leo, if you wouldn’t mind taking out your trash, it’s really starting to stink up my dad’s shop.” She crosses her arms over her chest and stares at Chelsea.
Suddenly she huffs, throws her hands up in the air, and hurries toward the open garage door. Leo chuckles and I glare at the piece of shit.
“Babe you didn’t have to get so jealous,” he says to Kendall and it’s my turn to step in his direction. Fucking douche, never have liked the prick. Kendall places her hand out to stop me and I bump into her outstretched arm.
“That had nothing to do with you. You could bang my nosy ass neighbor, or Ms. Walters next door, and I wouldn’t give two shits. So you can stop thinking too far into what took place. It had everything to do with her acting like she is better than me. That bitch is not better than me.”
She looks back at me glaring like I did something wrong.
“Also, stop bringing your whores into the shop. Use the back exit, this isn’t your showroom for stupid choices.”
Kendall huffs and walks off, and I ignore the chuckle from Leo. Arrogant piece of shit needs to be thankful that I refuse to disrespect Kendall and get Leo’s blood on his floor.
Walking in the direction Kendall had stormed off to, I find her cranking away on a wrench beneath the hood of an old Camry.
“Maybe we should add a shot of whiskey to your coffee,” I say, leaning against the fender. I can see how her lips are pressed into a tight line. “At first I didn’t think that had anything to do with Leo, but now I’m not so sure.”
“Are you serious right now?” She looks up at me and I shrug. “If I didn’t know you were still healing from broken ribs I’d punch you right now.”
“Why? Because I’m right?”
“Because you are a complete idiot,” she says. “That had everything to do with the fact that you went out with her and now she somehow thinks I’m the second choice. Both her and her mother act as if you are slumming it and I’d love nothing more than to show up on her mother’s doorstep and tell her that her daughter is a whore.”
“I think you made it very clear that you were not my second choice, babe.”
“Are you sad you missed out on what life should be like with Chelsea?”
“Not even a little.” I turn and set my coffee on the support of the car and pull Kendall closer to me. “From the moment you kissed me that first time I knew there wouldn’t be a chance of anyone else filling the void you left when you said there could be no us. There hasn’t been a single minute of any day since then that I haven’t wanted you.”
“I’m a mess,” she tells me and I cup her face, ensuring she is looking at me.
“You are not a mess Kendall, you are incredible. And you’re right. Chelsea didn’t have a chance. No one has a chance, because I am one hundred percent yours. I have been since that night, and nothing is going to change that.”
“Promise?” she whispers, tears pooling in her eyes.
“I promise,” I say, giving her lips a soft kiss.
I hover above her,her back arched, her fingers digging into my hips and I move. Kendall moans softly and I keep going knowing she is close. I can feel it, feel her tightening around me, squeezing as she lifts to meet my thrusts.
I ignore the ache in my hips, needing this connection.
It’s been weeks since my accident and she’s been with me practically every night. Caring for me, ensuring I have everything I need.
But all I truly need is her.
