With a sigh, I told him. I expected him to blow up. The fact that my brother was also pretty much my boss sucked.
Curtis chuckled down the phone. “Don’t the Black Aces have a chapter there?”
I paused. How would my brother know that? “Um…. sure. I think so.”
“Take as long as you need Cali. I mean it. Just check in now and then ok? So I know you’re safe.” Just like that, he did a total u-turn.
I blinked in surprise. What the hell was my brother up to? Never once in my entire life had he worried about my safety or asked me to check-in.
A nervous pit opened in my stomach.
“I will..”
“I mean in Cali, at least once a day.”
I agreed softly. Not because I had any intention of actually calling him but because Truth appeared in the doorway that moment and I wanted to to get off the phone.
“I have to go Curtis. Love you.” I didn’t wait for him to finish before ending the call. Tossing the phone on the bed, I smiled up at Truth. And he frowned right back at me, making my smile slip.
Had his meeting gone badly? I wanted to ask, but I had a sneaky suspicion he wouldn’t tell me anyway.
“You love him, do you?” Truths voice was low, dangerous as he moved towards the bed, with all the prowess of a stalking tiger. “Something you want to tell me, Cali?”
I giggled as he crawled over me, pushing me back into the mattress. “Tell you, I don’t think…” he silenced me by nipping playfully at my ear. “I think you do.” One big hand pulling my thigh up around his waist. “Does this guy you love get your panting like I do?”
My nose wrinkled. “I can honestly say he doesn’t.” My head fell back as he continued to kiss down my neck. “That would be kind of gross seeing as he’s my brother.”
Truth froze. “Your brother?”
“Older by almost twelve years. I can’t believe you got jealous.”
He chuckled. “Me neither.” His voice was muffled as he sucked on the skin over my pulse.
“Truth?”“Yes, baby?” He said against my throat.
“Take your pants off.”

“Move in with me?”
I had been drifting off, totally sated with my head resting on Truths wide shoulder, but at his words, my eyes flew open.
“Truth, we have known each other like four days.”
He chuckled. “So?” He pinched my chin between his thumb and finger, tilting my face up so he could brush his lips against mine. “Hear me out, Cali.”
“This is nuts Truth.”
“Yeah it is, but aren’t you having fun? Move in with me? Or do you wanna spend the next few weeks on Gems couch? Listening to her bang, whoever is her flavour of the month?”
“And you think I would rather listen to your brother?” Raising myself up on my elbow I stared down into his face, running my fingers through the scruff on his chin.
“I was kind of hoping we would be too busy banging ourselves to listen to that fuck.” He chuckled.
“That could work.” I giggled right along with him. “In fact, it’s pretty tempting.”
“Is there any way I can talk you into it?” For a second, we stared at each other. And I almost drowned in his dark eyes. They were bottomless.
