I take a sip of coffee. He’s right.
Iamdown bad for her. But isn’t it foolish to think about a future with her when I haven’t even asked her to be mine?
What if she only wants the sex? What if she only wants me because of my looks? What if sheleaves?
My fingers rub my temple. Jesus. This is too much.
Andrew leans forward. “You already know what you want to do. So do it.”
The bell chimes, signaling a new customer, and Andrew stands, giving me a reassuring nod before heading to the counter.
He’s right. My plan isn’t bad. And so, what if she says no?
Then I’ll deal with it. I’ll have to.
Even if I’m not sure Ican. I know moving on from her wouldn't be easy, but I'd have to. Life goes on, as they all say.
Or maybe all I have to do is trust myself even a little fucking more.
Chapter Thirty-eight
Jennifer
I look at myself in the mirror, admiring my outfit. Oh my god, I love this.
Victoria came in my room earlier, shoving a package into my hands. The second she saw the necklace around my neck, she flipped out, practicallythrowingher hands around my body and hugging me.
She treated me like Daniel asked me to marry him. It makes me wonder how he’d feel when he sees this necklace… I smile as I tuck it into my shirt, making sure he won’t see it immediately.
I zip up my jacket, the leather snug against my body. I love the way it hugs my curves, and it’s gonna be a necessary shield against the night air.
My boots click softly against the marble floors as I step outside my room, my heart thrumming in my chest with excitement.
When I reach his door, I don’t bother knocking. I just push it open and step inside. Daniel barely has time to look up before I close the distance between us.
God, I miss him so badly. We barely had time to talk the last few days… I mean, sure, we cuddled together at night. He also fucked me in multiple positions every single night, but that’s, well… All we did.
I let him take out his frustration and anger out on me, and then we go to sleep. I know he needs it. He needs me. Just as much as I need him.
He needs to take his frustration out in a healthy way, and seriously, I always enjoy it just as much as he does.
My sex life hasn’t been this active in years, however… I usually wake up alone in the morning, with him already gone. And fuck, it bothers me.
Every single time I’d ask someone if they knew where he was, the answer was always the same.
He’s out with Hayden.
Lately, Daniel feels like a ghost—here one moment, gone the next.
I mean, I can’t blame him. He doesn’t tell me much anymore, but I know what’s going on. Iknow.
“Are you ready?”, he whispers against my lips. I grin. “Definitely am”, I respond, my lips crashing onto his.
For a second, he tenses, but quickly his hands find their way onto my waist, pulling me closer, deepening our kiss.
Heat coils in my stomach as his fingers dig into the leather of my jacket, and surely, I almost forget why I came here in the first place.
I don’t know if I still want to go out with him, or if I want to throw him onto his bed and ride him.
