“If you ask me one more time, Bob, I’m opening them and ruining this entire thing.”

He slaps my ass. “Fucking brat.”

“What are you going to do about it?”

“Renege on my promise to eat you out in the back seat of my car. I even brought your pink sparkly dildo this time, so that will really suck for you.”

I pout.

He kisses my glossed lips. “Follow me.”

Braiding our fingers together, he walks us forward. We’re outdoors, given the heat of the sun, the sound of chirping birds, and the grass prickling my open toes. In the distance, I hear water.

“We’re here.” Liam releases my hands and comes to stand behind me, kissing my cheek. “Open your eyes.”

When I do, I see the picturesque landscape of our spot. Blue summer sky. Rippling water. A flock of birds flying. Trees rustling overhead with the gentle breeze. The bench where we first confessed our feelings rests next to us.

“It’s even more beautiful during the day, eh?” Smiling, I spin around. “What are we doing here—oh my God!”

The remainder of my words dies in my throat when I catch my beautiful warrior kneeling before me with a small velvet box in his hands.

A bright yellow diamond ring winks in the sunlight.

I gasp. “Liam…”

He takes my free hand and lays it against his chest, over his thumping heart. “Mabel Lani Garcia, you’re my best friend and my soul mate. Every single day, I count my lucky stars that you and I found our way to each other through those first letters. Because the truth is, I don’t know what I would do without you. You make me smile, you make me laugh, and you make me feel like our life is one big adventure that’s only just begun. I love you with my entire heart and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Marry me, sweetheart. Say yes and make me the happiest man to have walked this earth.”

Between that heartfelt speech, a single tear escapes me. “I-I…Oh my God, Liam.”

He kisses my palm and I belatedly notice the sheen of moisture in his blue eyes. They’re shining with so much love. For me. Always for me. “Say yes, Bel.”

I laugh, but the sound is watery. “Yes! Yes, I’ll marry you, Liam!”

The engagement ring is slipped onto my finger. I don’t have a chance to admire it before Liam is rising to his full six-foot-five height and clasping my face to kiss me breathless.

“Just so you know, I want a big destination wedding,” I murmur once we pull away.

Liam O’Connell presses his forehead to mine and says with an epic smile, “I’ll always give you anything you want, Mabel.”
