He rolled to his side, tugging her close, wrapping her in warmth and strength.“Now that your business is back on track… would you think about having another baby?”
She was quiet, thinking it through. Then she rested her head on his chest and nodded.“Yeah.I didn’t really get to enjoy being pregnant with Griffin—I was too angry, too sad.But doing it with you by my side?”She exhaled.“That might be wonderful.”
“I’d love to see you pregnant again,” he murmured, rubbing slow circles over her stomach.“All soft and glowing… full of our next child.”
She laughed and kissed his jaw.“Deal.”
Epilogue
“Former school board member, Dennis Atchinson, was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Olivia Hister and Lucy Dills two years ago.Mr.Atchinson was convicted of first degree murder after it was discovered that he’d received a two hundred thousand dollar bribe for unnecessary school construction projects under his purview,”the news anchor announced to the camera. Her features brightened as she turned to the second camera.“And coming up next…”she continued smoothly, shifting to the next camera with a bright smile.
Azlyn smiled at the camera herself, pretending that the sweat wasn’t dripping down her back and the bright lights weren’t hurting her eyes.
“Thank you so much for this interview, Your Highness,” the woman replied as she sat primly on the opposite chair.“It must feel strange for you to be the person being interviewed when, over the past several years, you’ve been the one with the questions.”
Azlyn felt a spurt of pride that she didn’t roll her eyes. This woman had only twenty minutes of Azlyn’s time and she wasted it on such a pointless comment? But she tilted her head slightly and nodded.“It’s an honor to be here with you.”
That’s when she spotted Zayn’s eye roll and had to suppress her amusement.
“So what’s it like being on the other side of the camera?”
Another stupid question?Good grief!“It’s very different from what I’m used to, but remember, I wasn’t the person actually asking the questions.I just developed the line of questions for each guest.”
The woman moved closer, trying to create a sense of intimacy, despite the people on the other side of the cameras and lights.“You’ve just won your second Academy Award for your documentary on the diabetes scam. And you’ve also received accolades for unearthing many other scandals over your career. What do you consider your biggest achievement?”
Azlyn looked at Zayn, then at her adorable son and rambunctious daughter, both of whom were in Zayn’s arms, looking sweet and benign. They were neither, but Azlyn loved that about her children. Then she lifted her eyes and sighed.
“My family,” she replied.“I love my husband more now than I did when we first met.”Her smile widened when she took in the funny face her daughter was making and the pursed lips of her son.“Nothing has ever meant as much to me as my family.”
The interviewer was a bit taken aback by that answer, but Azlyn didn’t care. She looked at Zayn, her heart swelling with love.Zayn winked as he smiled back at her with love in his eyes, and she had never been happier."
