This time, she straightened and shoved her hands on her hips. “What nonsense are you muttering?”

“If you and Adam were fated, you would have fucked like rabbits a long time ago.” She took a step closer. “Yet, you and this vampire can’t seem to keep your hands off each other whenever you’re alone together. And the looks you cast one another, thinking the rest of us do not see it.” She pointed a finger at her eyes.

“I see it and I smell your desires for each other.”

Aurora shook her head. “What are you trying to say?”

Lilith rolled her eyes and threw her arms into the air. “For being the smartest human-turned-vampire I know, you are certainly daft. I am saying that you and this Wolfe are fated.”

She looked down at her marking, which was now in a constant state of irritating the fuck out of her. The thing burned and itched all the time. “But why did I get this the minute I drank from Adam?”

“Markings show up when it suits them. Think about it though, neither Luna nor Adam have a mark.”

This time, she plopped down on the bed. “Well, I had wondered about that, but I know so little about this shit. But Luna’s pregnant with Wolfe’s baby. That has to count for something.”

Lilith laughed. “Have you forgotten everything about your human world? Babies happen. The fact this is a first between a vampire and a human can mean a lot of things, but it does not mean the mother and father are destined to be together.”

Everything was snapping together for her. Luna didn’t seem to hold any true feelings for Wolfe. As a matter of fact, in a past conversation, the girl had seemed to hint at the opposite. “How would I be certain of this?” Her pulse raced at all the ideas that ran through her head.

“Follow your carnal desires. The answers will make themselves known.”

She jacked up a brow. “You hate Wolfe so why are you trying to get me to go fuck him?”

“Because I am tired of your misery. It’s time you found out once and for all what your future holds, and you both need a clear head if you plan to get the girl to her destination intact.”

Aurora needed no more words. She opened a link to Xavier.Do you know where Luna is?

Last I saw her, she was in her room.

Thanks. She disconnected and headed for the door. “Don’t wait up for me.” They were not leaving until the morning light to head out of LA. Plenty of time to make her move. With vampire speed, she was in the hall and flying down the stairs to the next level and in front of Luna’s door giving it a light tap. Seconds later, the door opened, and Luna greeted her with a smile.

“Hey, what’s up?”

“I need a word.”

“Okay.” Luna stepped out of the way, and Aurora slipped past her. Once the door was closed, she wasted no time.

“Do you love Wolfe?”

Luna rested her hand on her now even bigger belly. Damn, they really needed to get her out of here.

“No.”

Question one out of the way. “Do you want to be with him? I mean in a––”

“Aurora, why don’t you just ask me if I think you and Wolfe are mates?”

Not what she had been expecting. “Okay then, do you?”

“It’s obvious to most everyone but you two that you were meant to be together. There are too many coincidences. He turns you into a vampire. You both get a mating mark, but neither I nor Adam do. How much more do you need?” She moved to a chair and sat. “Don’t let this baby impede your happiness. Lord knows there is so little of it these days,” she sighed. “I wanted to make an attempt at one point to see if Wolfe and I had feelings for each other but while I like and respect him, I feel nothing more than admiration and gratitude toward him.”

“I can’t believe I’m having this conversation.”

Luna shrugged. “Look. Wolfe and I were a one-time mistake that unfortunately ended up with me pregnant. We have not been together since, and he has made no secret of the fact that he still loves you. Honestly? I’m relieved I’ve not gotten a mark.”

“Really?”

“Just because I’m pregnant doesn’t mean I want to settle down with a man. Especially one I didn’t choose.” She waved her hand in the air. “I honestly don’t understand this mating thing. The only thing I want from Wolfe is to get me to Kentucky where I can have this baby, and then I expect him to help raise his son or daughter.” She smiled. “You’d make a kick-ass step-mom.”
