She twisted until she made eye contact. “Lomara died that day because she did not belong to Orien. I have always been your mate, but it was not our time then.”
He pulled in a long, deep breath as he stared at the woman he had loved and mourned. “My heart shattered that day. It was bad enough we could not be together, but your death was permanent. It meant I would never lay eyes on you again. I would have rather seen you lie with my brother than your bloody body still on the ground.”
She kissed his chin. “Are you happy now?”
“Very much so. My soul is finally at peace. I had no idea until I bonded to you just what having a mate means. You are my entire world, so don’t think I will allow you to go on this quest alone.”
“I never thought you would have it any other way. Besides, I rather love having you at my side.” She twisted to her back and stared up at him. “I also never realized what I was missing in all those lives, but now that we are finally together, I know it was you. I was missing you.”
“I love you and want nothing more than to carry you into the bedroom and have my way, but we have a city to save.”
She grinned. “But we have a minute or two.”
Before he knew what was going on, she had flipped over and was undoing the button on his pants. In a quick motion, she had his jeans pulled down enough to release his cock. Her hands were warm as she stroked him.
“I will not argue with this,” he groaned.
“And I bet not with this, either.” She leaned closer and flicked her tongue across the tip of the head.
He moaned.
She sucked him into her mouth, and he thrust his fingers into her hair, pressing into her scalp, which caused her to suck harder.
“For the love of the goddess, I won’t last long if you keep that up.”
Her response was to grip his balls as she took every inch of him deep into her throat. Dark spots formed as he tried to think of anything other than his mate trying to suck his brains out. It was useless. She was determined, and he was weak. His orgasm overruled him, and he cried out in pleasure as he filled her mouth.
She swallowed every drop, then licked him clean. When she seemed satisfied, she pulled his pants back into place.
“That was fun.”
“But I want to taste you as well.”
“Oh, you can make it up to me later.”
He had every intention of doing just that.
CHAPTER19
After thirty minutes of conversation and even a bit of arguing, they had finally decided on a place to portal to in the mortal world. The king had not been pleased one bit that his mate was walking into possible danger, and Fang had to threaten to chain Greydon to his throne if he dared step outside of Atlantis. They agreed that Zander and Orien would accompany Lysandra, Aimee, and Bethany. The king had wanted an army to follow along, but that was a bit much and would have made it more difficult to stay under the radar.
“I will open the portal and go through first,” Bethany said, giving the team a glare, daring them to utter one word of protest.
“You are a royal protector, everyone will honor your position.” Aimee looked at the team, and no one dared speak up. It was Bethany’s job to guard the queen first and foremost, Zander and Orien next. Lysandra was on her own, but she was a demigoddess and would be there to assist if trouble arose.
Bethany opened a portal and vanished into it. Next, Orien followed, then the queen and Lysandra and Zander would take up the rear. Once she had stepped through, Lysandra found herself standing in the middle of a field. Someone had harvested the corn, and all that remained were a few remnants of dried brown stalks.
“Wow, this place is about as boring as it gets,” Bethany said as she looked around.
“It was decided we would be less conspicuous popping in here, and it’s kind of in the middle of the country,” Aimee offered.
“Yeah. I knew there was a reason I never visited Iowa.” Bethany rubbed her arms. “I miss the tropical weather of Atlantis already.”
Zander and Orien stood on either side of the women, ready to do battle with anything that might threaten them. Lysandra shoved out both arms.
“Hold hands. We have more power this way.”
Bethany took her left while Aimee grabbed the right. Lysandra closed her eyes and began a search for any kind of sign. She didn’t have a clue what she was looking for, but figured she would know it when she located it. There had to be a way to sense a sibling. She pulled more power from the women connected to her.
