“I did.”

“You were wrong.”

“I see that now.”

They stood, holding each other for a long time, breathing each other in.

“Savannah.” Brynn didn’t want to break the spell but she couldn’t cope a moment longer without knowing. “What happens now?” she asked. “Because you know how I feel about you… you know that I want to be with you.”

Savannah stilled in her arms and then pulled back. Brynn swallowed, watching her.

“I don’t know, Brynn,” she said softly, and Brynn just tried to keep breathing.

Savannah took another step back and pulled the front of her dress back up, covering her half bared body. She moved away from her, pushing herself back to sit on the bench again.

“I think it depends,” she said, finally meeting Brynn’s eyes. “What would that even look like, to you? I mean, we live in different states. I have a child. Not to mention our lives are completely insane. Do you have a plan here exactly?”

Brynn paused to find her panties, needing some kind of dignity for this conversation, even if that meant sitting there in nothing but fancy lingerie. Shepushed herself up to sit next to her.

“I do,” she said, firmly.

“You… have a plan?” Savannah looked surprised. It clearly wasn’t what she’d expected. A realization hit Brynn all of a sudden, of exactly how many people probably propositioned this woman on a daily basis.

“Yeah, I absolutely do.” She raised her chin and met her eyes.

“Care to share it?” There was a disbelieving note in Savannah’s voice.

“Sure,” Brynn told her. “It goes like this. First, you take me home with you to whatever luxury hotel room you’ve got going on and I’m going to lay you out in those fancy sheets and make you come all night long.”

Savannah drew in a quick breath, letting that hit. Her eyes flickered down Brynn’s body just for a second.

“Well, I can see how that would be a given,” she acknowledged. “But then what?”

“Then you invite me on your tour.”

“Are you seriously using this as a career conversation right now?” Savannah spluttered a laugh, turning to her with both eyebrows sky high, her eyes amused rather than offended. Brynn shook her head.

“No, I’m being pragmatic. You’re on a massive tour. The label wants to send me on a less massive, but still extensive tour. We can go on separate tours where I never ever get to see you, or you can invite me on your tour and I’ll be right here to hold you every night.”

Savannah sucked in a breath at that. Her eyelashes flickered.

“I see your point,” she murmured. “And then what? What do our lives look like after that?”

“After the tour? We pick one of your ridiculously over the top properties and spend time getting to know each other off the road. We write incredible songs together, make love, hang out with Tucker and you can finally take me on one of those terrifying hikes in the forest you once promised me.”

“That… doesn’t sound terrible,” allowed Savannah.

“I’m not finished.”

“Please, continue.” Savannah rolled out her hand elaborately, her eyebrows raised.

“By then an appropriate amount of time has gone by and I’ve saved enough in royalty checks and merch sales to buy the prettiest damn ring you’ve ever worn in your life and put it here,” Brynn reached over and toyed with her bare left ring finger.

Savannah gaped at her, her blue eyes gone wide and her mouth opening to speak, but Brynn got to her feet, standing in front of her, with one finger raised to stop her. She reached down and curved her hands over Savannah’s ass and squeezed.

“Then,” she added, working hard to keep her face as serious as possible,“I want to get you pregnant.” She pulled Savannah in, hips first, against her body, making her breath escape in a gasp as her jaw dropped.

“Excuse me?” Savannah looked up at her like she’d lost her mind.
