The slick roughness pressed and rubbed, spinning her. Desire tightened her body.
Sarah held her knees, and her neck strained with each curl of his tongue winding around her nub as tight as a fist between her legs. Her breath blew through her body as he plundered her, his chin scraping her, his mouth sucking at her skin and drawing the tension like ropes tightening until an unbearable point when she was going to die or scream and then a burst and crescendoing waves of release, of relief and bliss, crested and broke through her body, carrying her away.
Blaze’s mouth softened, kissing her gently down there as the pulses retreated, and Sarah groaned and turned her head.
The door from the house was still closed, and a red light blinked on the panel beside it.
Wow, she hoped that meant it was locked.
Rough cloth rubbed over her thighs and between, wiping the slickness away and abrading that too-sensitive spot.
Sarah braced herself on her elbows, sitting up.
Blaze tossed a blue towel into a hamper, banking it off the wall, and held out his hands. “Come on.”
She curled up and slid off the roof of his car into his arms.
Her pants were still wrapped around her ankles, and Blaze bent to pull them up, tugging them up and over her hips.
“Oh, you don’t need to do that,” she said, flustered because he was dressing her like she was a doll.
He buttoned her jeans and smoothed her shirt over the waistband. His deep voice grated when he said, “I take care of what’s mine.”
What he’d said sounded good. She’d just done a sexual thing with Blaze. A part of her brain was insisting that they had to get married now because they had to, because doing such a thing outside the bonds of matrimony must be wicked and sinful, but also, she didn’t think they had to.
But she wasn’t sure what he thought and didn’t know what people had to do anymore.
Her parents were gone. No one could force her to get married or would hold a shotgun on him.
Sarah’s head was still fuzzed, and she clutched his arms. The world whirled around her. “What you said, what does that mean?”
Blaze sighed and stepped backward. “It means I’m a possessive asshole who doesn’t know where the fucking boundaries are. Romain and his Rogue Sec team will be wondering what the hell is taking us so long.”
“Oh, no!” Sarah spun and grabbed the door handle, yanking at it. “They’ll know.”
Blaze pinched his phone from his slacks’ pocket and slid his finger over the screen. “I’m telling them we had a minor car malfunction and are now on course. No one will know.” He flipped his so-blue eyes up to glare at her. “But my Navy buddies connected on my phone’s health app will wonder why my heart rate skyrocketed for fifteen minutes.”
Sarah jumped as she spun around, her face heating like she was staring into the summer sun. “No! Please tell me they won’t know!”
His expression softened, and he stepped forward to wrap his arms around her. “I was joking.”
Sarah was choking back tears and feeling stupid as she grabbed him around his waist because all the feelings were still buffeting through her. “Oh my word, your sense of humor is malicious!”
He was bending his knees as he held her to rest his chin on the top of her head. “I didn’t mean to scare you.”
She very lightly punched him on his pectoral and dang near hurt the side of her fist on his iron-hard flesh. “I didn’t know you could joke! That scared me more than them knowing!”
Blaze’s body rumbled as his abdominal muscles contracted precisely three times.
Sarah looked up at the underside of his chin. “Holy cow, did you laugh?”
His head inclined to the side. “No.”
She snuggled into his arms. “Well, now I’ve seen everything.”
He stroked her back.
But, jeez, cringe still wove through her brain. “Your heart rate didn’t really go up enough to alert your workout buddies, did it?”
