He came to New Haven looking for a fresh start. He never expected to find forever.
Darren Brooks thought he had the perfect life—a husband, three children, a beautiful home, and a future he could count on. Then his husband’s crimes shattered everything he’d built, leaving Darren alone with his children, his reputation in ruins, and nowhere he wanted to stay.
A fresh start on New Haven seems like the answer. A new home. A new job as a deputy. A chance to raise his children somewhere no one knows their past.
Then he meets Tarek Korvak.
The Dragonii security officer has spent years traveling the stars and is ready for something more than cramped ships and unruly crews. Becoming New Haven’s sheriff offers exactly the life he’s been craving—and being matched to Darren gives him something he never dared hope for.
But Darren has been betrayed once already. Tarek knows he must give his wounded mate time to trust him, even as their attraction grows impossible to ignore.
With three children, one very spoiled dog, a growing frontier town, and a brand-new house waiting for them, Darren and Tarek may have found the family—and the future—they’ve both been searching for.
Sometimes the life you thought you’d lost is only making room for the one you were meant to have.
