Jose was a fifth-generation owner of Red Mesa. He knew the history and lore of Sierra Ridge. He was also more than happy to keep to himself, venturing into town when he needed to. Folks called him a grump, a recluse. He didn’t argue.

What he did argue with was Vicky Feliz.
She was a tour guide, supposedly new to these parts. She had a head full of book knowledge with a habit of speaking like she knew the area better than most. Jose had no patience for it.

However, she wasn’t new at all like he thought.
Vicky was born in Sierra Ridge, but at five, her parents moved. Even though she had been raised in Texas, Sierra Ridge was always in her blood. At twenty-seven, she was back, telling stories about the area she had loved and understood.
Of course, the knot in her plan was Jose.

He was fifteen years older, a man who was stubborn, infuriating, and grumpy. Yet, he would send a rare smile her way which caused butterflies to swarm within her.
People said he wasn’t right for her.

Vicky was determined to show everyone how wrong they were, including Jose.
