The Tailor (The Grisha 1.50)

This short story gave us more insight about Genya's thoughts and experiences. Genya revealed that she passed the letters Alina wrote for Mal to the Darkling. Whether he opened and read them or not she did not know. Genya knew she was betraying Alina, but could not help herself from being her friend too. Genya was also envious of how Alina freely showed her emotions on her face, a luxury not afforded to her due to a life of being in court. When she was a little girl, there was a time when Genya was cherished by the Queen, but now of course she hated her. As Genya grew, the Queen had known sooner or later what her husband would do. Instead of blaming her own husband, she blamed Genya for it.
One thing is certain about Genya.  She may be there to look pretty and make everyone else look pretty, but there was no denying that she was a warrior at heart. Her strength is something I had always admired.
