Failing to fight him off, he forced me down on the bed. My vision blurred the longer and rougher he choked me. I slapped and scratched his arms and wrists until they were bleeding. When that didn’t work, I took my thumb and dug it deep inside his shoulder wound.

“FUCK!”

He backed off, which allowed me to clock him with a vicious right hook that had him stumbling back, dazed. As I climbed off the bed, I didn’t think twice about it. I used all the strength I had to tackle the huge motherfucker.

We hit the floor, and as fast as fucking possible, I dove over Bane to get to the gun, crying out when someone’s shoe stomped down on top of my hand, stopping me.

My breathing trembled as I glanced up to the person that shoe belonged to. It was Banjo. I never heard him come in. Fuck, I never realized he’d stopped singing.

“You’re strong to be so little,” he said, nodding as if he were somewhat impressed by my will to survive.

“Please,” I begged as he reached in his pocket and pulled out a syringe, refusing to remove his goddamn shoe from my crushed hand. “Don’t do this. Just let me go. Please, Banjo.”

“Sorry, darlin.” He popped the cap off and crouched down, offering me the fakest frown I’d ever seen in my life. “Orders are orders.”

“NO!”

Movement shifted beside me, making me cry harder as Bane sat up fast and rushed to straddle my lower back, his weight pinning me down to the floor. Banjo gripped my bun and yanked my head back.

“I’M PREGNANT!” I wailed, but it was already too late. The needle was in my neck, and I could already feel the drugs’ effects running its course through my veins. The last thing I saw was a real, genuine frown cross Banjo’s face before my world tilted into what I could only hope was permanent darkness.
