“I need to come,” Cav groaned as his head fell back against the door. “Make me come, Edge.”

It wasn’t a request. That dominant side of me tried to overpower my desires, to reject his request, to make him beg. It was a futile battle because I could have this, have him. Perhaps Jamie was too damn sweet for the likes of me, but Cav knew what the score was.

“Use your hand,” Cav said around a guttural growl, his tone harder than before, more of a demand. “Jack me off.”

I remained where I was, my chest pressed to his, but I took over, shoving his hand away. The smooth, hot length of him glided against my palm at the same time white-hot need slammed into me.

Rather than take what I needed, though, I gave Cav what he’d demanded. I jerked his cock while I feasted on his mouth. When he reached for me, I knocked his arm down, pulled my mouth from his. I pressed my forearm across his throat, stared into his eyes while I continued to tug roughly, driving him higher.

His eyes were wild, as though he was hanging by a thread. I knew the feeling because he made me feel that way. They both did.

“Harder,” Cav pleaded.

It was a power play, one we’d both anticipated. He knew as well as I did that I would not back down completely. Perhaps he’d eventually get his wish and he’d slip past the armor, bury himself deep inside my ass. I couldn’t rule it out because there was no denying I was curious about what it would be like to have Cav fuck me the same way I’d fucked him. But it wouldn’t be happening now.

No, there might be the illusion of him holding the reins, but we both knew I was in control here.

“Tell me what it was like,” I ordered. “To have your fingers buried in her pussy.”

A deep rumble came from his chest. “I wanted to bury myself inside her, feel that sweet pussy choke my cock.” He groaned long and low. “To drive into her, hear her beg me to let her come.”

Fuck. My cock strained against my zipper, anxious to get free.

“But you didn’t.”

Cav shook his head, his mouth falling open as he moaned. “I didn’t. But I will. Fuck … Edge … Make me come.”

I fisted his cock firmly, jerked roughly, and watched as he slipped right over that precarious edge he’d been perched upon. He didn’t cry out, but he did open his eyes, meeting mine as he came in my hand. I saw the fierceness within, the beast that paced back and forth.

“I told her I would own her,” he said softly when his breathing returned to normal. “And I will.”

Not wanting him to see the uncertainty I knew I couldn’t hide, I released him, grabbed some tissues from the holder on my desk. I perched on the edge once more, cleaning his cum from my hand.

“Why’re you holding back?” he asked as he tucked himself back in his jeans.

I gave the tissues far too much attention. “I’m not.”

“You are.”

With a sigh, I discarded the tissues, stood again. I was restless, no way to deny that.

Cav took a step toward me. I didn’t run, but there was a fleeting need to. This was more than I’d signed on for and it seemed to be building more and more each day.

“You don’t have to,” Cav whispered, his face nearing mine.

I leaned in, bit his lower lip.

“Before it’s over, I’ll own you both,” I promised because I needed to hear it as much as he did.

Cav stared back at me. “You’re already halfway there.”

I let my eyes dance over his handsome face, trying to read between the lines.

“You don’t have to work me over, Edge,” he whispered. “You already have me. All that you’re willing to take.”

My chest tightened. My heart, maybe? It was a feeling I wasn’t familiar with, one I wasn’t quite comfortable with. But I was working toward it. Or trying to, anyway.

“And once we get Jamie between us,” he continued, “you’ll see that we own you, too.”

Something softened inside me. I palmed the back of his head, leaned in, and kissed him. It wasn’t rough, it wasn’t laced with frustration. No, this was an acceptance. We had our work cut out for us where Jamie was concerned. I’d known that all along.

However, I hadn’t stopped to think about what this was between Cav and me, how quickly it was escalating.

A natural progression.

From friends to lovers to…

To everything.

WHEN I WOKE UP ON SUNDAY MORNING, a restless energy came with the new day. In an effort to alleviate it, I decided to go for a run, needing something to calm my mind. Back before life got so hectic, I would go for a run every morning, the endorphins paving the way to less stress in any given day.
