“May I ask another question, Master?”
“You may.”
“Do you have any other submissives?”
“In the past, I have. For the time being, I do not.”
His response sent a pain through my chest. I didn’t like the idea of Master having another submissive and the way he said it sounded as though he expected to have additional ones in the future.
I didn’t realize I’d dropped my gaze to the floor until Master’s fingers curled beneath my chin and nudged my head so that I was once again looking at him.
“I’m not looking for any other submissives, pet. I’ve spent a long time searching…for you.”
And that was the moment that I realized I was utterly devoted to this man in every way. Should he ask, I would give him every bit of my submission.
Only, I got the feeling that wasn’t exactly what he wanted.
Not entirely, anyway.
Thirty-Seven
“LUCI,” JORDAN GREETED WHEN I answered the phone. “Mr. Daniels is here for a one thirty appointment.”
“Thanks. I’ll be right out to get him.”
I immediately got to my feet and headed toward the front, not wanting to leave Mr. Daniels waiting. He was a client and it was very clear that my company put their clients first. As it should be. And this was the first time that I had the pleasure of meeting one of their clients, so I wanted to make a good impression.
After my conversation with Master this morning, business had resumed as usual. It was as though nothing had happened and I was beginning to see that my bosses managed the overlap between business and personal much better than I did.
The only thing that had really changed was how I referred to my four bosses. When I typed correspondence, I used Mr. in front of their surnames, including when I sent emails to Master. Something told me that the relationship we’d established—whatever it might be—was not to interfere with work, but I was determined to show a certain level of respect.
And though things in the office hadn’t been awkward, I had spent most of the day thinking about this demonstration. I couldn’t deny that my emotions were chaotic. I was both nervous and excited.
“Good afternoon, Mr. Daniels,” I greeted, holding out my hand to the formidable man in the finely tailored suit.
He appeared older, mid-forties if I had to guess. His jet-black hair was graying at the temples and blended nicely with his salt-and-pepper goatee. He was what I’d consider average height, probably right at six feet with a lean body and big hands.
For some strange reason, he reminded me a lot of Master. Maybe it was his mannerisms or the way he carried himself. There was something distinctly commanding about his presence.
He kindly took my hand, then lifted it to his lips. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Miss Wagner.”
I felt Jordan’s stare and I glanced over to see his eyes were wide as he took in the scene before him.
“We’ll be setting up in the back conference room,” I informed him.
Mr. Daniels turned and nodded to two men who were seated in the lounge area. They retrieved several black bags, a couple of hard cases, and a large mirror from the floor, then came to stand behind him. I turned and led the three men down the hall and into the conference room.
“Would you like the blinds open or closed, Mr. Daniels?” I asked, knowing it would be up to him.
“Open, please.”
“Yes, sir.” I hit the button to raise the blinds. “Is there anything you need before the meeting starts?”
“Just a little privacy.” He then held out one small bag. “I’d like you to take this to Mr. Parker and let him know my assistants will notify him when we’re ready.”
“Yes, sir.”
I returned to my desk and found Justin coming out of his office.
“Mr. Daniels is getting set up. He said he’d let you know when they’re ready.” I held up the bag. “He asked that I give you this.”
Justin smiled down at me and nodded toward Master’s office door. He led the way and stopped just inside Master’s office.
“It’s been requested that Luci wear this for the demonstration.” Justin turned to me. “Please take Langston the bag.”
I carried it over to him and set it on his desk.
Master peeked inside briefly, then lifted his head and nodded to Justin. His expression never changed. “I’ll see that she does.”
Justin nodded. “Once they’re set up, I’ll have the assistants return to the lobby and I’ll lock the doors until the meeting’s over.”
“Perfect,” Master replied.
Justin left the room. I started to follow.
“Hold up, pet,” Master called out. “Please come back.”
I returned to his side. He got to his feet and cupped my face. It was just one of the many ways he touched me. I liked that he did it. It made me feel special, as though I meant something to him.
