“Speaking of stressful…” Landon’s smirk was devious. “We’ve got a few instructions for you over the next four days.”
“Me?” Now I was definitely curious.
“Yes, pet,” Langston said, stepping into my personal space. “Your instructions will come in the form of a text message. When you receive one, you will only have a few minutes to do what it is you’re asked to do.”
“Should you fail,” Justin stated, “or choose not to do them, you will be punished.”
I didn’t like the sound of that. However, it made me want to work harder to meet their demands. And truthfully, I liked the idea of having tasks assigned for me. I didn’t even care what they were, just knowing that it would please my bosses was all I needed.
“I won’t let you down,” I told them all.
“Gumdrop, we don’t think you could let us down if you tried.” Ben’s tone was heavy with approval.
“We’re proud of you,” Landon added. “This event is going to go smoothly, and it’s all thanks to your hard work and dedication.”
“Okay, then,” Justin stated. “We should get back out there before someone comes looking for us.”
“One more thing,” Langston growled as he pulled me into him, his mouth finding mine. He was gentle but demanding as his tongue thrust into my mouth. I sighed against him, tension coiling in my core from the contact alone.
“My turn,” Ben said as soon as Langston pulled back.
My bosses took their turns kissing me. When they were finished, they all headed back to the lobby while I took a moment to compose myself. I touched up my makeup, noticing the huge grin on my face.
Yeah. This was going to be an epic event.
There was no doubt about it.

My first text message came that afternoon when I was sitting at a small table talking to Sharla Simons. She was one of Langston’s tenured managers. We’d been discussing several of her clients, who were best-selling authors. I was intrigued by how close she was to her authors, speaking to several of them at least once a week, more when they had a release. It was enlightening to hear her explain her process and her desire to befriend the people she worked for, earning their trust and respect.
Although I wanted to pick her brain, I knew the text couldn’t go unanswered. “If you’ll excuse me for a moment…”
“Sure, no problem,” she said, smiling widely.
Glancing down at my phone, I read the text message three times, feeling a strange flutter in my belly.
Ben: For your first task, you will need to head to the room where they will be setting up for the three p.m. presentation. Since it’s 2:40, I suggest you hurry.
Keeping my attention on my phone, hoping no one would stop me with any questions, I hurried out of the room we had set up for people to drop by when they needed a break. There were a lot of people in the room because the last session had ended at 2:30 p.m.
“Miss Wagner?” someone called from behind me.
“I’m sorry,” I said, being as polite as possible without meeting the man’s eyes. “I’ll be back in just a few minutes. Jordan’s just inside if you have a question.”
“Sure.”
I walked as fast as my five-inch heels would allow. When I got to the door where a friend of Langston’s would be giving an introduction to BDSM in just twenty short minutes, I opened it and stepped inside.
The room was empty.
Luci: I made it to the room.
Ben: Very good. On the table at the front of the room you will find a small box. Open it, then take a seat in the chair beside that table. Take the item and make yourself come. Remember, people will begin arriving soon. You are not to leave that chair until you come. To ensure you’re doing as instructed, someone will be stepping into the room shortly. They will let me know whether you succeeded or not.
Oh, my God.
I couldn’t believe Ben was making me do this. Especially since I was trying to coordinate the efforts here at the convention center. With so many people in attendance, I seriously doubted I was going to succeed.
However, I was certainly going to try.
I raced to the front of the room and grabbed the small box. Inside was the small bullet vibrator Landon had given me. I smiled. The damn thing turned up in the strangest places sometimes.
Dropping into the chair, I flipped it on, then snuck it beneath my skirt.
The door opened and I hesitated, waiting to see who had joined me.
There was a man I hadn’t been introduced to, so I assumed he was not one of the managers. Because he didn’t approach me, merely stood with his arms crossed over his massive chest, his gaze locked on me, I figured he was the one responsible for confirming I did as instructed.
