“I’m just glad that we’re all getting out.”

“Even thoughsomebody’sbeen going out more recently,” Addison said as Paisley walked up.

“Yes, I’d love to know all about that,” she said with a wink as she took a seat on one of the lower couch areas with us.

The waiter, one we had been trying to get the attention of the entire time, barreled over as soon as Paisley sat down, and Addison and I looked at each other before we burst out laughing.

Paisley frowned for a minute, and I held up my finger motioning that I would tell her in a moment.

We ordered different martinis, as well as bottles of water, and then we sat back, Addison and I still giggling.

“What?” Paisley asked.

“We’ve been here for a good ten minutes and we couldn’t get his attention, but as soon as you showed up with those long legs and gorgeous red hair, he was ready.”

Paisley rolled her eyes. “Maybe it was just timing. You guys are gorgeous. I mean seriously, it’s not the legs.”

“Maybe it’s the hair,” Addison said. “I love it.”

Paisley slid her hands through her hair and smiled. “I had a Brazilian blowout a while ago, and it’s starting to wear off, so the frizziness is coming back, which is saying something because Denver doesn’t give you frizz.”

“My hair’s slightly wavy but goes full curl as soon as I hit anywhere humid.”

“I do not have that problem no matter where I go. I straighten mine no matter what.” Addison grinned, and then leaned back as the drinks came. We took ours and clinked them together.

“To new beginnings,” I said, and they both nodded.

“To new beginnings,” they said in unison.

I sipped my drink, happy that I ordered a straight-up Grey Goose martini, because I could sip it slow and not need another one. If I got anything too sweet, I downed those a little too quickly, and it was a work night.

“Thank you for this. Seriously. I think I need a little more time away from the office.”

“Ditto,” Addison said as she gestured her drink towards Paisley.

“I would say that too, but you are my boss,” I said with a roll of my eyes.

“Well, I am demanding. I know it, and it bothers most people.”

“Honestly, it doesn’t bother me. And I’m not just trying to kiss your ass here.”

“True, and so we don’t cross any lines you’re not comfortable with, we don’t have to talk about work at all. Unless you want to, Addison.”

Addison shook her head at Paisley’s words. “No, let’s not. All I do is talk about work. I know what wecouldtalk about though,” Addison said with a flutter of her eyelashes.

I sipped my water. “Oh no, let’s talk about the weather. It’s been gorgeous, hasn’t it?”

“Tell us all about Heath. So have you, you know,” Addison put in, and I blushed harder.

“I take it that’s a no. Really?” Paisley added.

“Not yet. We’re taking it slow.” I cleared my throat. “I’m a virgin. And he’s taking it really slow. Even though I feel like I’m dying inside.”

“Oh. Really. I’d say good for you, unless…is that what you want me to say? Sorry, I’m really not good at girl talk.”

I waved her off. “It wasn’t on purpose, it just sort of happened. Between school and work and life, it just never happened. And Heath is going super slow and being really kind, but I know that he has a life outside of me and outside of what I want. We both just said this is a good time. I’m not going to feel too much about it, and I’m going to have a fling.” I paused. “I’ve never had a fling before. But I guess you need to be flung first?”

Both Paisley and Addison burst out laughing.
