Eleanor leans back, her eyes still holding mine—a silent challenge. "A legacy can be a fragile thing," she says softly, almost a whisper but loud enough to echo against the walls of my certainty.

The investors share looks among themselves, a silent conversation at a frequency I can't quite tune into. It's clear they're reassessing, recalculating, considering the weight of my words against the potential of Isabella’s next moves.

I know I need to regain control, to steer this back in my favor.

"Let me assure you, the Silver Blades have a strategy in place. And as for Isabella, I'm confident her departure won't disrupt our trajectory. In fact," I pause, gauging their reaction as I prepare to play my ace, "we're exploring a... collaborative approach with the StarPucks that will ensure both teams, and the Apex Arena, thrive."

Their interest is piqued, I can tell. It's an unexpected play, but then, I've made a career out of those.

"A collaboration…," Robert starts, a slow smile creeping across his face, "that could be a game-changer."

"Yes," I agree, a matching smile tugging at my lips, "a game-changer indeed."

I hold the investors' collective gaze, letting the term "game-changer" linger between us, a tantalizing taste of potential profit and success. I can almost hear the cogs turning in their heads, each one of them recalculating their stakes, reassessing the risk. Good.

"We'll be in touch with the details," I say, wrapping up the call with an air of finality that suggests I've got all my pieces in place—even if the board is still in flux. "Thank you, everyone, for your time."

The screens blink out one by one, and I'm left in the quiet afterglow of the call. The investors are intrigued, their appetite for risk whetted by the hint of something big, something unifying. But what exactly?

I lean back in my chair, steepling my fingers, my eyes fixed on the cityscape stretching out before me. Collaboration with Isabella. The idea had been a spur-of-the-moment feint, a way to regain control of the narrative. But now, as I consider the possibilities, it starts to take on a life of its own.

I need something solid, something public to show that Isabella and I—no, the Silver Blades and the StarPucks—are aligned. A partnership that will smooth over any investor concerns and solidify my position.

And then it hits me, the perfect ruse.

A fake engagement.

It's just crazy enough to work, just bold enough to catch everyone off-guard and spin the story in our favor. It would tie Isabella's success to my own, and the StarPucks' rise to the Blades'.

A smirk finds its way onto my lips as I think about the plan, about pulling Isabella into this dance of deception. It's a gamble, but I've never been one to shy away from those. After all, the biggest risks often bring the greatest rewards.

I rise from the chair, my reflection in the glass showing a man ready to take on the world. A partnership with Isabella Carrington—imagine that. The very thought is electric, a current running hot and fast through my veins.

This could be the move that defines my career, that elevates the Blades and the StarPucks to new heights. It's a power play, one that will have the whole city watching, waiting, talking.

And as the details begin to coalesce in my mind, I can't help but feel that rush of anticipation, the thrill of the chase. This "collaboration" could be my masterstroke, a stroke of genius that will change the game.

I just might've come up with the perfect plan indeed.

Isabella

One week into my new life and I'm standing for the first time in front of what is, let's say, the "charming" home of the StarPucks—Polar Arena. It's a far cry from my last place of work, but ambition wasn't built on looks alone. I push through the doors, my heels clicking on the concrete with the rhythm of new beginnings.

The interior is a kaleidoscope of chaos and potential. Wires dangle from open panels, and the scent of fresh paint battles the mustier notes of sweat and determination. It's not the gleaming spaceship I imagined, but it's ours, and that's what counts.

As I stride through the corridors, I can feel the weight of history yet to be written pressing against the walls. This is where the magic will happen, where dreams will be made or broken. It's a fixer-upper's dream, and I've always been good with my hands.

Anthony emerges from the guts of the stadium, his usual flamboyant self somehow subdued by the stark reality around us.

"Isabella, welcome to the frontier," he says with a flourish that feels a bit forced in the stark lighting.

I take in his apologetic stance, the way his eyes skirt around, avoiding direct contact with the less glamorous details of our surroundings.

"Building a stadium is a whole other beast," he admits, scratching the back of his neck. "But acquiring the team? That was the easy part."

I offer him a grin, unphased. "I've never shied away from a challenge, Anthony. And I’m not about to start now."
