“Now that I’m a little more clear headed,” I start, getting cut off by his laughing. I chuckle along with him, shaking my head and propping up on my elbow. “I can understand where you’re coming from. You felt that connection. I’ll give you the freedom to explore that, as long as you promise me that you’ll be completely honest along the way?” That’s all I’m asking of him. I just need to know where I stand with him.
“If I wanted to get rid of you, I could have easily poisoned you and made it look like a suicide,” he teases, shoving away from me. With a playful growl, I yank him back to my body, biting down on his shoulder. “But I understand what you’re saying. I’ve been gay for as long as I can remember. I hate keeping secrets, which you know as much as I do, that they’re relationship killers. If anything, I may be tempted to offer her a piece of you too.” He winks before jabbing me in the ribs with his elbow.
He rolls away quickly, standing before I can reach him and flopping face first into the sheets. I pout at him as he moves around the room, closing the windows and shutting off the lights. The fan is a must, so he flicks it on before returning to our designated spaces.
The large guy rolls right into my awaiting arms, taking his place as the little spoon.
Several moments go by, and my brain can’t seem to shut off. “You promise you’re not going to leave me?” With a dramatic sigh, he rolls over so we’re face to face. Holding my jaw with his available arm, he levels our gazes.
“You ask me that again, and I will castrate you. I’m. Not. Leaving. You.” He emphasizes every word to ensure that it’ll penetrate my brain. Unfortunately, insecurity isn’t cured with words.
We’ll just have to wait and see.
Chapter Eight
“You’remeanttoberesilient, girl. No wonder daddy sold you off,” Charles snickers, dancing the blade up my face. It’s already dripping in blood. My blood. The edge is slightly dull, not enough to cut without firm pressure.
“Go to hell,” I shriek. Cord wraps so tightly around my wrists that it’s cutting off circulation. My legs splayed outward for easy access, where they want to be able to have me without the struggle.
The buyer returned me for having a ‘filthy mouth’. Men are the bane of our existence. I’ve threatened my handler since I first came into captivity.
“We’re already here, I guess I should have welcomed you.” Ravi stands off to the side in the shadows, his hulking figure slumped into a chair as he jacks off to my struggling.
“I’ll get out and kill you both,” I hiss, spitting blood directly into his eyes. He doesn’t stop. He presses down harder, still not breaking the skin of my face.
“If I wasn’t preparing you for your next buyer, I’d have sliced this gorgeous face. Unfortunately, you’ve lost me quite a lot of money by being a naughty girl. You do know what happens to bad girls, don’t you?” His yellowed grin is almost so vile you can see the green poof. Tossing the knife, he brings the handle into my jaw.
Thump.
What the fuck?
Looking around, the guys have vanished, leaving me strapped on the metal table.
Thump.
Thump.
“Wake up you stupid whore,” Stephan spits, jabbing my side with a hot poker rod.
“You awake?” A soft voice asks. My eyes spring open, catching a woman with a clipboard. I attempt to scramble backward, only to have shooting pains in my entire body. A whimper floods from my mouth, tears leaking in my ducts.
I can’t stay here. They’ll find me.
Yanking on the cords, I can barely hear words being spewed at me. Hands grapple with mine as we fight. My mission is to take all of this off. They’ll put me back under.
“It’s okay,” the woman shushes as I swat around myself. No, it’s not, I want to scream. She doesn’t know my pain, doesn’t know my terror. She’ll return me to them. Bounty money. Chest tightening, I finally rip the butterfly needle from my body.
“Code white, I repeat…” her voice slows as the world spins. There’s suddenly multiple people pouring into the room as my eyes cross. I attempt to kick my legs over, only to be stopped by a metal railing.
“Please let me go,” I whimper, watching as one guy in particular slowly walks up to me. He looks oddly familiar, the look on his face one I don’t recognize. Dots dance in my vision as I try my hardest to focus. “Help me…”
“You can’t handle a little blood loss?” Ravi laughs, whipping the bloody knife on his shirt. “You just had to bite me, didn’t you? Couldn’t do what you were told?”
“You know I never will!” Fighting against the bindings, another click on the cuffs resounds. Shit.
“All spirits are meant to be broken, darling girl.” He comes closer, his pants only unbuttoned. “I can’t talk about it.” He says, suddenly stopping.
“What?” I retort, confusion lapping my brain.
