One after the other we check rooms, closets, offices, and duty stations to ensure there’s no one else here. Just as we’re about to turn around, a loudbangechoes down the corridor. We don’t even think before taking off in that direction, pushing through the room and stopping to see Heallie and Doc gagged and tied up. Heallie’s eyes are closed, and I can’t quite tell if she’s breathing from here. Doc is wide awake, her eyes wide while she shakes her head aggressively. Looking behind us, I ensure that it’s just us in the room. Checking everything, we’re clear.

Ripping the bandage off, she immediately starts going off.

“It’s Ravi, he had some guy with him. They broke into the hospital room and nabbed her. She didn’t want to go with them-”

“Woah,” I call, holding my hands up. “Let’s get you out of the bindings first and see if Heallie is okay.” She quickly agrees as we remove the bindings and focus on the unconscious girl. Thankfully, I can see her chest moving and feel air coming from under her nose. Breathing a quick sigh of relief, Doc kicks into action with rolling Heallie into a recovery position, checking on the nasty wound that’s leaking blood into her hair.

“This is going to need scans, there may be internal bleeding.” Doc stands, turning to walk away. “I’ll get the machine running. We can talk once she’s in.” Turning on her heel, she quickly runs to the other side where there’s the big ass machines we may or may not have gotten from cartel jump. Either way, it works.

“What the actual fuck,” Widower huffs, grabbing under Heallie’s arm and pulling her upward.

“Probably should wait until we have a gurney or something,” I suggest. She whips back to look at me with a glare. “Or not, nothing crazy.” With another huff, she just about drops Heallie and grabs the life board thing off the wall.

“Better, your highness?” She quips, rolling the unconscious nurse onto the body board. My eyes avert to the ceiling.

“Just get moving.” Hauling her up, we take her and help Doc situate her onto the table. Shooing us away, we step out and wait in the viewing room.

“Did she say Ravi?” Widower asks, pulling her phone out. “Because I’m pretty sure we have a Ravi on the tech team…”

“Shit!” I bellow. I whip my own device from its confines and dial Techy. My leg bounces as I wait for him to pick up, only for it to go to voicemail. Redialing, I wait. Again, voice mail. “Techy isn’t answering.”

“Go check on him. I’ll wait here.” I take off before she even finishes her sentence.

Chapter Seventeen

HudsonandItrudgethe kids up to their suite since it’s close to bedtime. Ophelia ate most of my food, but I’m not one to complain. If their party-pooper of a dad wasn’t there, they’d have been loaded with sugar. Minus the infant, he would’ve just been wound up with a loud toy or something.

“Alright kids. Axel and ‘Phelia, teeth,'' Hudson orders, pointing them in the direction of their bathroom. Neither one of them talk back. They simply do what is asked of them. She wiggles from my arms, dropping a kiss on my cheek before taking off.

“Seb needs a bath tonight,” he laughs, looking at the formula-spit up covered infant. A pungent scent wafts off him, and I have to force down the gag. He’s definitely stinky.

“Have you heard from Widower?” Trailing behind them, I’ve decided that I’m going to help. It’s not too often that I get to wind them up after Hudson tells them to calm down.

“No, but that’s not unusual. She’s a late owl and likes to spend time with the guys every few nights.” He shrugs, collecting a towel and the small caddy for Sebastian’s bath.

“I thought she did that last night?” Again, he shrugs.

“She’s a big girl. I don’t care if she’s out late as long as she’s back to give the kids hugs and kisses before bed.”

“You’re too good of a dad,” I laugh, shaking my head. I know I’d have popped a socket ages ago. He chuckles with me as he works to get the bath going for the infant.

We chat while he gives the bath, letting the two older kids come and sit with us. Axel talks about his day at school and how he’s going to learn more than his mom. He’s vowed to be the MC’s best president. We all salute him because the job sucks ass.

When Widower was out after having the babies, Crusher, Nomad and I all decided to split up duties. It was a fucking fiasco. She usually only gets help from Hudson, so kudos to her. I don’t want her damn job.

Ophelia talks about how she’s got a bit of a crush on one of the boys in her class. Hudson was not particularly pleased, that’s for sure. Sebastian simply babbled away, cooing with everyone as they went.

After the water starts getting cold, Hudson gets everyone shooed out of the bathroom.

“Where’s mom?” Axel asks with a big yawn. Furrowing my brows, I realize I’ve been here for over two hours already. I should have heard from Nomad or Widower by now.

“Not sure, kid. Do you mind calling while we get situated?” He wraps the baby in a fluffy towel, kissing and blowing raspberries into his cheek.

“Sure.” Stepping out, I dial her number only for it to go straight to voicemail. Checking the signal, it doesn’t appear to be jammed. Trying again, it’s just static before it goes to the recording. Huffing, I try calling Nomad and Ravi, neither of them answer.

Scrolling through my contacts, I call Crusher.

“Yeah?” He grunts, his voice low.
