“Because what?” I press, scooting up the bed a bit.
“It’s not relevant. The club is ready and willing to support you whether you’re an ol’ lady or not. Your brain won’t let you get over that fear, fine. That’s a long term goal.” She clicks her pen and writes down little scribbles. I look like a damn fish with my mouth opening and closing. Words just don’t seem to formulate.
“You don’t get to move on from a subject that you think is irrelevant,” I snap, fisting one hand in the sheets. The dam’s . “I have no fucking clue who you are, yet you know my first name? Do you know anything else about me? Birthday? Social security number?”
“You’re making this a bigger deal than it needs to be,” she sighs, pinching the bridge of her nose. “If it makes you feel better, no, I don’t know any of that. I know your name because-”
“Enough,” a deep voice growls. As if on instinct, my jaw snaps shut. Narrowing my eyes, Nomad saunters into the room. Again, the fear ramps in my chest tenfold.
Except, it’s not the terror I’m used to feeling. This is a different type of fear, one that is completely foreign to me. One that has my heart pumping in my chest, stomach fluttering, yet I can’t look at a dude’s dick without wanting to vomit.
Just ask Ravi.
He’s gruff and aggressive, voice rough as nails on a chalkboard. Yet, I can’t help the slight flutter my lower lady parts get when seeing his raggedness.
You’re attracted to the demon specimen that hurt you.
Tortured you.
Shaking my head, I keep my eyes lowered to his chest. Looking at him directly could initiate a challenge. That’s a mistake you’ll only ever make once.
“Nomad,” she nods, standing from her seat. Their hands meet in a slight shake before she sits back down. He takes the hard plastic chair next to my bed and propping himself on his elbows. I scoot as far away from him as I possibly can without falling off the bed. Swallowing thickly, I flicker between the two. They’re having a silent conversation with brows raising before they both turn to me.
No good things come from those types of conversations.
“I’d like a minute alone with you.” He turns to look at me after a while, and I can’t help retreating. My eyes shift to the sheets. When he reaches for me, the involuntary flinch only makes the silence thicker.
“No, thank you,” I whisper, trailing over my propped leg. It still gives me the chills seeing several metal pieces sticking into my skin. Shaving that is going to be a bitch.
They’ll probably just wax it, like the others.
“Would you feel more comfortable with my counterpart?” He responds surprisingly softly, nodding toward the door. If I remember correctly, Techy is his husband. “Techy is my husband, yes,” he affirms my silent, or I guess not so silent, question.
You don’t really get an option.
I clasp my hands together tightly with a shrug, acting as nonchalantly as I can with two giant men in the room. With my five foot two frame, they’re like monsters. There’s a slight tremble in my hands that I work to contain.
“These aren’t ideal circumstances, I know, but we’re really only here to help you,” Techy rasps, taking Dr. Solla’s place as she makes her way out.
“I’ll come back in a little while to check on you. I’ll send Heallie to bring that medication.” With that, she shuts the door behind her softly.
You’re cornered, just how you like it.
“Whatever you need, you can have,” Nomad comments, keeping his gaze directed to me. “Do you have family or friends that we can reach out to?”
“No!” I bark quickly, slapping a hand over my mouth. The movement jostles my leg and sends a rocket of pain through my body. Breathe through it.
Just like all the other times. Breathe through it.
Real terror seeps into my veins, when everything suddenly starts moving all at once. There’s suddenly two of him and two of Nomad. My stomach rolls as the terror mixes with the lightning pain.
“Woah, easy,” Techy gasps, reaching forward. I jolt to get away from him, but in my haste, the lines attached to my arm force the metal IV stand to tip towards me. Before I can think, I grab it and move it out of my way.
Chapter Ten
“Shit!”Techyshouts, flyingout of his chair and ducking down. A stand flies toward him at an alarming rate, clattering against the wall and embedding slightly. Shock ripples through me as the tiny girl struggles against everything around her.
She’s in a state I used to see quite often.
