Solution:
Use ASCII table to get ASCII code from character.
"P" => 80 = 5×161+0×160= 5016
"l" => 108 = 6×161+12×160= 6C16
"a" => 97 = 6×161+1×160= 6116
Good lord. Okay, this isn’t going to work. I have no idea what that means. It’s all basically gibberish, but I’m intrigued by the bit about the text “plant trees”. It seems like this code can be translated into actual words. Not that I understand how, but there is a handy-dandy automatic converter on this page as well.
The user name I have is twenty characters, so I break it into ten two-character pairs. Now it looks like what this page is calling Hex ASCII (whatever that is). But I’ve got this string of letter and numbers:
53 70 79 4D 61 73 74 65 72 0A
I plug the string of numbers into the converter thing and press the green button that says “Convert to Text”. In less than a second, words have appeared on my screen. Actual words.

That’s the email address. It has to be. It cannot be a coincidence.
I can’t believe it. I figured it out. This is kind of amazing!
I look around the space because I kind of want to brag, share this with someone, with Drew, with Callum, even, but of course, I’m alone. The whole reason I came in here is because the restaurant was practically empty. I’m supposed to be working.
Reality settles onto me like a bit wet blanket.
SpyMaster. Neat, yeah. But also … so what? Like, what does it even mean? For all intents and purposes, it’s still an anonymous Hotmail address. I’m no closer to figuring out who sent the message, or why. I’m no closer to not being fired.
Nothing’s really changed at all.

I can’t help myself, though. I click into the first email and fire off another reply.
