The only thing worse than hearing about how he loved another man was hearing about how much I’d hurt him before that man came along to repair the damage.

“But I fell out of love with him just as slowly.” He grabbed my chin between his thumb and forefinger, pulling me down so he could look me in the eye. “I never fell out of love with you.”

“Of course you did.”

“I hated you,” he said, eyes wide. “I hated you so hard and for so long, but I never stoppedlovingyou, Archie. And I haven’t stopped now, and I don’t know what that means for me.”

I’d heard enough.

I crashed my mouth against his, grabbing his face and taking a step back from the sink so I could get my hands under his thighs. Owen jumped, wrapping his legs around my waist and his arms around my neck. He angled his head so I could deepen the kiss, the breath leaving his lungs when I walked him back against the fridge.

He’d never stopped loving me.

He’d never stopped loving me.

He’d never stopped loving me.

And that didn’t change anything. It had no bearing on the entire country between us or the history with Mandy. It didn’t change the fact he was leaving me on Monday and we had less than thirty-six hours left. I still didn’t know if it meant these moments with him would be my last, because if he’d loved me the whole time and iced me out the way he had, I didn’t expect that to change.

We were stillus.

Owen’s cock throbbed against my stomach, pressing against his underwear and all but begging to be released. He humped himself against me, much like he’d done the night before at the club, but with a different kind of desperation. He was almost frantic, like the threat of this being our last time together hung over us like the blade of a guillotine. I matched his energy, balancing him against the fridge and freeing one of my hands so I could get my cock out of my pants.

I didn’t have lube, but I didn’t care. I knew that was unfair and would hurt us both in the end, but with Owen, I had an unchangeable one-track mind, it seemed. I was so focused on the wet heat of his mouth and the softness of his body that I didn’t hear the beeping of the front door key pad. I didn’t hear the door being opened. All I heard was the way Owen breathed and moaned and moved against my body, every muscle begging for what I wanted to give him.

I even missed the click-clack of someone’s expensive shoes making their way across Rob’s floor, and I could have ignored their presence entirely if I’d tried harder.

“Shit,” I cursed into Owen’s mouth and turned, trying to keep my dick and the swell of his ass out of view.

I slowly dropped him to the floor and glanced over my shoulder, finding a very unamused Grayson standing in the entry, his arms folded in front of his chest. Rob was behind him, a smirk playing across his lips, and farther back, Flynn, looking like he’d just seen the greatest show on earth.

“Don’t stop on our account,” Flynn said.

“Ignore him,” Grayson snapped, even though there was hardly any heat in it at all. “But please tell me which one of you is going to clean Owen’s assprint off of the fridge?”

“It’s a fingerprintless fridge,” Rob said, and I buried my laugh into Owen’s curls.

“For fuck’s sake.” Grayson leveled a glare up at him that did nothing but make Rob swat him on the ass. “Go get your trunks on and get yourself in a better mood.”

“It’s where weeat,” he protested.

“Like you’ve never fucked in here,” I wagered.

Rob laughed again, and Grayson huffed. “I’m going to rename the lot of you The Participation Ribbon Pricks, I swear to God.”

But he laughed, even as he pretended to push Flynn out of the way and head toward the stairs.

“My plan’s foiled,” I whispered, pressing a kiss against the side of his head.

“Your plan was to take me on a date and take me swimming at your best friend’s house,” Owen said. “You’ve taken me on a date, and we’re not entirely waylaid on the last part. There’s hope for you still.”

I didn’t see Flynn stripping out of his clothes until I caught a glimpse of his bare ass streaking out of the house and onto the pool deck. I did, however, get an eyeful of his ball sac when he launched himself into the air and tucked his legs against his chest, holleringcannonballso loud that I didn’t even hear whatever Owen whispered up at me that had him looking like the house had collapsed around him.

“What did you say?” I asked, stroking my fingers across his cheek.

He shook his head and reached down to adjust his erection, even though his underwear wouldn’t do anything to hide him.

“Nothing.” He smiled up at me. “Let’s get into the pool before Flynn splashes all of the water out.”
