“It didn’t look like it last night.” Flynn yawned again. “Not with that pretty little boy of yours coming all over your Zegna slacks.”
I sighed and closed my eyes. “I don’t know what the point of any of this is.”
“You love him, and you’re also the most masochistic Dom I’ve ever met in my life, so I think we both know the point.”
“This has never been the kind of pain I enjoy.” Slowly, I opened my eyes and watched the puffy white clouds break the sky line between the dark purple of the night and the orange-pink of the sunrise. “A nipple twist here and there, Flynn. I’m not an emotional masochist.”
“Are you sure?”
No, unfortunately, I wasn’t.
“Honestly, Archie.” Flynn yawned again. “This call sounds like you ran out of your emotional support aerosol cheese.”
“It’s not aerosol,” I protested.
“Are you out of it?”
“No. But I can’t eat it when he’s here.”
“He’sthere?” For the first time since he picked up the phone, Flynn sounded awake. “And why are you on the phone with me?”
“I couldn’t sleep.”
“Thank you for making that my problem, by the way.” Flynn sighed. “You’re a sad, little, lost boy, aren’t you?”
“That’s a little more patronizing than I would have liked, but the sentiment isn’t terribly far off.”
“When does he leave?” he asked.
“Monday morning.”
Forty-eight hours.
I had two days and two nights left with Owen before he ran back home and never looked back. The irony of him getting the chance to leave me for once wasn’t anywhere close to being lost on me, and I took a careful sip of my coffee.
“Do you want him to stay?”
“I don’t want him to go,” I said.It felt different, but in a way I couldn’t explain.
“Have you given him a reason to not go?” Flynn asked.
I snorted, scrubbing a hand down my face.“I gave him six last night.”
“Anyone can give him orgasms, you idiot. Have you given him a reason to stay withyou?”
“Am I not a reason enough on my own?” Even as I shot the question back at him, I knew it was stupid. There was a time when I might have been enough as I was for him, but that time was a distant memory. “Don’t bother answering that.”
Flynn laughed. “Are you sure?”
“I’ll put some pants on and come up with something.”
“Put them on andkeepthem on. Remember, Archie, sex with Owen was what got you into this mess in the first place. Don’t let it happen a second time.”
The warning came a little too late, but I appreciated the sentiment just the same.
Flynn yawned yet again, so loud it caused me to tip my head back and follow suit. “Can I go back to bed now?” he asked.
“Yes. Thank you.”
