I picked up my phone again.I’d like to come over tonight. I was thinking of bringing Thai.

Sounds perfect. I’ll try to leave at five, but I might get stuck here a little later. I’ll let you know.

Every time I ended a conversation with him, I wanted to add those three little words. But I was trying to let him guide the pace of our relationship. It wasn’t easy, but it was my job as the Daddy to be what he needed, and I was still trying to figure that out.Looking forward to it.

“Everything okay, boss?” Seth stowed his backpack in the breakroom, as his shift was beginning.

I sighed and shoved my phone into my desk. I needed to give Brody space, and checking in with him every hour on the hour wasn’t healthy for either of us. “I’m good. How was your weekend?”

“Fun. I went to a concert and…” He waggled his eyebrows. “I had a lot of fun afterward.”

I had to laugh. To be 18 again. “Glad to hear it, but I hope you were safe.”

“Yes, Daddy. We were safe.” He glanced around to see if anyone was within earshot. “All three of us.”

“Nice.” I’d never been one for sharing partners but could definitely understand the appeal. I wasn’t sure if Seth was into guys or girls or all of the above, but if he was safe while he experimented, I was totally on board. “Sounds like a good time for all.”

We had a large delivery of scrap metal on its way in, and we needed all hands on deck to sort it all and get it recycled. That was good because the rest of the day moved quickly. So quickly that I didn’t check my phone at all.

At five-fifteen, we were all ready to call it a day, so I sent the guys home and locked up everything, anxious to see my boy. Brody hadn’t texted me yet, so I didn’t know if he was working late, but I went straight to his house and decided to order delivery as soon as he got home.

That would give us a few minutes of cuddle time before we ate.

When I got to his place, I knocked on the door to see if he answered. His car wasn’t in the driveway, but he’d mentioned wanting to start parking in the garage, so I hoped he was home and just using his garage as it was intended.

After a few minutes, he didn’t answer, so I pulled out my phone to call him. That’s when I realized Harris had left a message earlier in the day.

Harris rarely called me unless he needed a favor, so I leaned against the porch post and listened to the message, assuming he was painting something or emptying his attic or something along those lines.

“Aaron, hey. I’m not sure how much you know about what’s going on, but—”

A firm hand landed on my shoulder and spun me around, making my phone fly off the side of the porch. “Who the fuck are you?”

“Who the fuck areyou?” I straightened my spine, making sure this asshole knew I had twenty pounds and four or five inches on him. “And why the fuck are you touching me?”

“This is my house, and I want to know why you’re here.” He leaned against the doorbell, covering up the camera so nothing would be recorded. “Get off my property before I kick your ass off it.”

The slur in his voice made it clear he’d been drinking, which explained the foolish bravado. “Lemme guess. Geo?”

“So he still talks about me?” He grinned and snorted a little. “Well, I’m back now, so you can run along. Go find some other little freak to suck your dick. This one is mine at the moment.” He rattled the doorknob as if it would magically unlock. “At least until I find someone better.”

I wasn’t usually the violent type, but I couldn’t control myself. As if I were having an out-of-body experience, my elbow pulled back, and I punched the fucker square in the nose.

A shower of blood exploded from his face, and he dropped to his knees, whining about how I’d ruined his pretty face. Before I could hit him again and ruin his pretty right ear too, a squad car pulled up in front of the house with lights and sirens blaring.

“Shit, that was fast.” I stepped off the porch and kept my palms visible while they approached Geo.

A tall officer joined him on the porch and kneeled down to check on him. “Hey, man. You okay?”

Geo, the hothead he was proving to be, shoved the cop with just enough force to knock him off balance and completely off the porch. Of course, that made the shorter, stockier officer tackle Geo from behind, knocking him on his chest and putting him in handcuffs.

Damn, what the hell did Brody ever see in this dude?

Speaking of my sweet boy, he pulled into his driveway just as the officer was explaining to Geo all the charges against him and dragging him to the car.

“Aaron!” Brody ran straight to me, throwing himself against my chest and practically climbing up my body. “What did he do? Are you hurt? Did he hurt you?”

“I’m fine, baby.” I steadied his chin so he was looking up at me. “He said some shit and I decked him. Then he got handsy with a cop, so they’re taking him in, I guess.”
