I shot him a smirk before mounting the silks.
From somewhere drifted strange dark music, unlike anything I’d ever heard. It raised the hairs on my arms. It reverberated in my bones, ancient and haunting.
I rode that music and took to the air, like it was an air current and I was a bird.
Twisting, spinning, spiralling. The silk in my hands, soft but strong. The pull of gravity that I refused to bend to. The curves and angles of my body that looked effortless and yet were the result of years of training and practice and the strength of my muscles.
I felt it all more keenly than I ever had before.
And I understood.
At last, I understood what Zinnia had spoken of and why Sepher called me “little bird.”
Because Iflew.
It was free. It was beautiful.
It was joyous.
I couldn’t keep the smile from my face. Not the calculated, coy one that seduced the audience, but a pure reaction to the soaring feeling in my chest. Warm and bright, I was alive.
The fact of my nudity was nothing compared to the breathless feel of escaping land. I laughed at the creatures below, stuck on the ground. I let the dark music creep over me, command me, like we were dance partners and he led.
I played in the air, flew through it, made love to it.
And as I climbed higher and higher up the silks, I locked eyes with Sepher.
Lips parted, he stared. His expression was so wide open, I understood it in an instant. Wonder.
Then he blinked.
And as he blinked, I remembered.
Why I was here. Why I wore no clothes. All that he’d done to me. All that had happened between us.
He must’ve remembered, too, because his mouth snapped shut and his expression closed as his eyebrows clashed together.
Oh, my poor prince, you thought you could break me.
Foolish, foolish boy.
I smiled, sharper than the diamonds he’d made me crawl over, then I turned that smile from him to the dozens and dozens in the audience.
I didn’t know this music, but I could feel it building to a crescendo, and I knew exactly the move to end with. The perfect bit of payback for my prickish prince.
Legs wrapped in the silks, I stretched forwards, like I was flying towards them. Then, smooth as water, I spilled down the silks, spinning end over end. I locked on to Sepher’s golden eyes to stop me growing dizzy.
All the air sucked from the theatre as they wondered whether I was going to stop in time. Being fae, they no doubt hoped I wouldn’t, pondering what my frail, human body would look like broken upon the stage.
But of course I did.
Legs spread. Arms wide. Smile its widest. I stopped at the exact moment the music reached its crashing peak, like a thunderstorm breaking upon the shore.
Breath surged through me as I held that pose and the attention of an entire audience, all staring at my exposed pussy.
I graced my prince with a triumphant smile.
I will never back down.
