She must have heard me coming up the driveway, because she is coming down the stairs as I step into the hallway.

Fuck…

Her wavy blonde hair is in a tousled bun, a few pieces of hair dangling around her face. The flowy black tank top she has on, dips just low enough to catch a hit of cleavage. Yet, the bottom hem sits just high enough that as she bounces down the steps, I catch glimpses of the tanned skin of her stomach. Her ripped denim shorts sit low her hips, and perfectly accentuate her thick, toned thighs.

As I am walking toward her, Sal steps from his office into the hallway. “Angelo,” he looks at me with a slightly confused look on his face, “What are you doing here?”

“I came to pick up Ellie,” I pause, not entirely sure if it’s okay for me to be dating the nanny, “Ms. Taylor.”

Ellie’s sandal clicks against the marble floor when she reaches the bottom step and Sal turns toward her. She’s not mine, but that doesn’t stop the tinge of jealousy I feel when I watch Sal’s eyes roam over her body as she walks past him.

She makes her way to me, and I turn to walk her down the hallway. When we reach the door, I hear Sal call my name.

“I’ll be right there,” I open the door for Ellie and gesture for her to get in the car before turning back toward Sal.

“Keep an eye on her,” his voice is firm and demanding, “People will quickly realize she is part of this family, and that will make her a target.”

“Of course, Sir,” I barely give my response before he is stepping back into his office.

Heading out the door, I find Ellie leaning against the passenger door of the Maserati.

One of the perks of driving for this family is full access to more expensive sports cars than I could ever afford on my own.

“All good?” She questions, as I approach her and open the door.

“Yeah,” she slides between me and the car to get into the passenger seat, “Just some work stuff.”

We make small talk as we drive back through the city. Pulling the car to a stop along the curb, Ellie looks around inquisitively at the area surrounding us before turning back to me.

“Wow,” she smirks, “Straight to a hotel. Not even going to buy me dinner first.”

“What kind of a guy do you think I am?” I click the button to release her seatbelt as the valet approaches to open her door.

“Angelo,” she looks at me nervously when I reach her side of the car, “I’m not dressed to eat in there.”

“What you are wearing is perfectly fine,” I reach my hand out to her, “Trust me?”

She hesitates and can see her eyes darting around at the well-dressed people entering and exiting the hotel. I watch as she takes a deep breath, exhaling it as she slides her delicate hand into mine.

Holding her hand, I lead her into the hotel and walk her through the lobby. Ellie pauses when we stop at a door labeledEmployees Only.

“It’s okay,” I assure her. I pull a keycard from my back pocket and swipe it over the panel to give us access, “Still trust me?”

Cracking a slight smile at me, she steps through the door, and I follow behind her. Taking her hand again, I lead her down the hallway to a bank of elevators. She fidgets nervously as we ride the elevator to the top floor, but it is apparent that she is eager as hell to see where it is that I am taking her.

The elevator bell echoes around us as the doors slowly slide open. Pulling Ellie off the elevator, she looks a little underwhelmed as she looks around. The entire floor is at the end stages of construction, not exactly a romantic date locale.

“You really know how to impress the ladies,” she squeezes my hand as I walk her toward the stairs just down the hall from the elevator.

“And here I was,” I turn to face her as I continue walking backward up the stairs, “thinking that you weren’t going to be impressed.”

“Oh my god!” She gasps when we reach the top of the stairs, slowly turning to taking it all in, “Angelo. This is absolutely amazing.”

ChapterEight

ELLIE

Angelo lets go of my hand so that I can turn to take in the rooftop around me. It is absolutely gorgeous. According to the signage this is going to be a cocktail lounge, but currently it is a giant outdoor garden. There are walls of plants and flowers, lights strung above us, and a single table waiting in the middle of the bar.
