“Um. Lyla,” I gently nudge her with my elbow before drawing her attention to the stage.
“Ok,” she sighs, “Don’t get mad.”
The three words I dread most from her mouth.
It is always followed by something that pushes me well outside of my comfort zone.
“And exactly what is that I’m not getting mad at?” My tone suddenly making me feel like I’ve channeled my mother.
“It’s a fet club.”
“A what?”
“A fetish club... Kink club... BDSM club,” she rattles.
“You mean a sex club?” I whisper loudly.
“When you say it like that it sounds dirty,” she winks mischievously as she grabs my arm and pulls me to the bar.
“There are not even words to describe how much explaining you have to do,” I link my arm with hers as we walk to the bar, “Because currently I feel like you have this secret life you’ve been living that I know absolutely nothing about.”
“That’s Tristan,” she whispers while subtly gesturing to a drop-dead gorgeous man standing at the bar. He exudes confidence, but what man wouldn’t with that head of thick dark hair and chiseled jawline? Tristan and another gentleman, with his back to us, are mid-conversation as Lyla drags me up to the other end of the bar. I watch him briefly as she orders us both a vodka and cranberry, trying to figure out why she’s been keeping him a secret.
Beyond the sex club thing.
The moment the other man walks away, Tristan flashes a huge smile in our direction.

ELLIE
Tristan quickly makes his way to our end of the bar, and I watch as Lyla lights up as he approaches. It is uncharacteristic of her, and I absolutely love that she has found someone who has finally let her put her guard down.
“Hellofy nghariad bach,” he cups her chin and places a wet kiss on her lips before turning to me and gingerly taking my hand. The British accent more noticeable on his velvety smooth, deep voice is swoon-worthy as he addresses me, “And you must be Ellie? I am pleased to finally meet you.”
“You too,” I gently shake his hand and smile back, hoping he is oblivious to the fact that until maybe ten minutes ago I had no idea he even existed.
“She hasn’t told you a thing about me,” he diverts his gaze from me to jokingly scowl at Lyla, “Has she?”
“Your name,” I also glare at Lyla and roll my eyes, “As of a few minutes ago.”
“Well, then,” he pauses when something across the rooms draws his attention, “I need to steal her away for a moment, but the second we get back I’m going to make sure she tells you just how bloody magnificent I am.”
He is charming as hell, and I can’t help but laugh. It’s no wonder Lyla is absolutely smitten. When he turns his back to me to inform the bartender our drinks are on the house, I mouth the words, ‘Oh my God!’ at Lyla.
Her eyes widen as a huge smile spreads across her face and I watch her mouth the words, ‘I know.’
“We’ll be right back,” Lyla takes Tristan’s arm as they leave me at the bar.
They can’t be gone for more than two minutes when a man approaches and sits in the stool Lyla was previously occupying. He wastes no time striking up conversation, “Can I buy you a drink?”
“No, thank you,” I smile as I politely decline before gesturing at the bar in front of me, “I already have two.”
He places his hand on my thigh, and a chill shoots up my spine. His thumb rubbing over my knee, he leans uncomfortably close and says, “Sweetheart, you obviously came here to have a good time.”
“Actually,” I try to brush his hand from my leg, “I came here with a friend.”
“That pretty brunette you came in with?” He questions, and the fact that he’s been watching me since we walked in has me even more creeped out by him. His grip on my thigh tightens and he nearly groans, “I’d enjoy having a good time with both of you.”
