From the corner of my eye, I see Sal stepping to the top of the stairs and I pull Ellie into me. My hands on her body while I squeeze her tightly against me. Forcing Sal to see who it is she really belongs to.
“I’m sorry,” she mumbles against my chest as I continue to hold her flush against my body. My heated eyes locked on Sal’s; I place soft, wet, open-mouthed kisses across Ellie’s forehead as she leans into my embrace.
Mine.
She will always be mine.
Releasing my hold on her, I tilt her face up to mine and place a fluttering kiss across her lips. My eyes still focused past her to Sal, I smile spreads across my face as I say, “I’ll see you later, beautiful.”
ChapterTwenty-Eight
ELLIE
Turning from Angelo to head upstairs, a heated blush creeps up my neck when I see Sal standing at the bottom of the stairs. My eyes are on the floor as I walk toward the stairs to head to my room and I don’t see Sal closing the distance between us.
When I look up, he is standing right before me. His fingers firmly grip my jaw and turn my face up to his.
“We’ll finish our conversation when I get back, piccolo fiore,” his voice is deep and his tone calm. “Be a good little girl while I’m gone. Understood?”
I hear a quiet disgusted groan from Angelo behind me as I nod my head and mouth my response,‘understood.’
Turning his attention to Angelo, he raises a brow before addressing him, “You ready to go?”
You could cut the current tension in this room with a knife.
It’s so thick and suffocating that I can barely breathe.
A single nod of Angelo’s head and Sal continues with his usual deep and demanding tone, “Good.”
Standing at the bottom of the stairs, I watch as the two of them walk from the house.
That is going to be one hell of an awkward ride to the airport.
Alone with my thoughts, I casually walk up the stairs. I head straight into the bathroom and turn on the shower. The moment the water is warm, I shed my robe and undergarments. My eyes are drawn to the remnants of Sal on my thighs.
Oh my god…
I’ve never had a man come inside of me. Before this moment, I’ve never allowed a man inside me without a condom. As much as Lyla has tried to convince me to get on the pill as a just in case preventative for years, I never listened. I’ve only had a handful of sexual partners, and none of them involved regular enough sex for it to ever become a worry for me.
This is not who I am.
Unprotected sex.
Being intimately involved with two men at the same time.
Guilt, shame, and a tinge of disgust pump through me.
Stepping into the shower, my hands are immediately on the soap and shower poof. I squeeze a generous amount of soap into it and vigorously begin scrubbing my skin. My skin is red and tender from the burning hot water and abrasiveness of the poof by the time I stop. My eyes are equally as red from the silent sobs causing tears to stream down my cheeks.
I don’t know what to do.
Standing under the spray of the water, I let it continue to wash away my tears until it begins to turn cold. I drag the towel over my still sensitive skin to dry off. When I reach the foot of the bed, I pause for a moment while I look down at the perfectly folded pile of my things Sal left last night.
My fingers fumble with the clasp on my purse as I try to dig out my phone.
