“You have absolutely nothing to be sorry about,” I grip her by the waist and hoist her onto the counter next to the plates before stepping between her knees. My hands rest on her thighs as I stare into her gorgeous eyes.
She looks up at me with a sadness in her eyes that pains me, and I can’t help but lean to gently kiss her lips. My lips lingering against hers, I whisper, “Tell me what you need.”
“It’s crazy, but you,” her words vibrate against my lips, “And a nice, relaxing night in.”
“You got it, beautiful.” I kiss her gently before helping her down from the counter. Taking her hand, I lead her down the hallway and to the stairs.
“This isn’t quite what I meant," she sighs as I lead her up the stairs.
Stopping in the middle of the flight of steps, I turn back to her and brush the hair from her face. "Do you trust me, beautiful?"
"Yes," a slight smile spreads across her face.
"Good. As much as I would happily use sex to help you feel better, I know that's not what you need right now," I turn and continue to walk her up the stairs and down the hall toward her room. Stepping into the room, I lift her hand to my lips and gently kiss her knuckles before letting go. She has a slight look of confusion on her face when I leave her and walk into the attached bathroom. After turning on the water for the tub, I search the cabinets and am pleased when I quickly find a large bottle of lavender scented bubbles. I squeeze a generous amount under the running stream of water before returning to Ellie.
"Phone," I hold out my hand and she hesitantly places it in my palm. Swiping through her apps, I set a timer for thirty minutes and open a relaxationplaylist on Spotify.
"Come," I walk her into the bathroom and set the phone on the counter before placing a soft kiss on her forehead, "Take a moment for yourself. I'll be waiting downstairs when you're ready."
Leaving the bathroom, I shut the door to ensure she understands I'm giving her a few moments to herself. I quietly make my way through her dresser and closet to put a change of clothes on the bed for her - the baggiest pair of sweatpants and oversized hoodie I can find. Lifting a cute little pair of lacy panties from the drawer, I put them back when I decide to let her determine what to put on underneath the comfy clothes.
Quietly closing the bedroom door behind me, I make my way to the living and dig through the bag of romcomsI thought she might like.
The Proposal.
What woman doesn't love Ryan Reynolds?
And I haven't seen a movie with him yet that I didn't love...
Yup, winner.
The alarm on my phone begins to sound as I'm reheating and plating the Chinese food in the kitchen.
Perfect timing.
ChapterFifteen
ELLIE
The alarm on my phone from the other side of the bathroom startles me from my relaxing soak in the tub. Pulling the plug for the drain and climbing out, I cannot argue that it might have been exactly what I needed.
Finding sweats and fuzzy socks laying on the bed is an interesting surprise.
Definitely not what I was expecting.
Pulling open the dresser drawer filled with my undergarments, I pause for a moment looking at the comfy boy shorts and a matching lacy set.
He pulled out the comfy clothes, I’m pulling out the comfy panties.
The sweatshirt is roomy enough that I opt to forgo a bra. Taking a quick glance in the mirror, I confirm that it’s not overly noticeable before heading downstairs.
“Feel better?” Angelo smiles at me from the kitchen as I approach the doorway.
“I do.”
“Good,” he crosses the distance between us, meeting me in the threshold of the doorway. Placing a soft kiss on my forehead and grabbing my hand, he says, “Come grab your plate and glass of wine.”
“Is now a bad time to tell you I don’t like Chinese food?” I joke and watch as he deflates before quickly saying, “I’m just kidding! Who doesn’t like Chinese?”
