Everything appeared fine. But then again with my exhausted track record of trying to understand women, I found myself in my usual quandary wondering exactly what it was women wanted?

I certainly knew what I had to offer, and not in the exhibit way of money or a privileged lifestyle. Rather deep down what I held in my heart still, what I never allowed Jessica to take from me completely –despite all her best efforts. She broke my heart nearly to the point of no return. And with everything I’d gained since through all the blood sweat and tears it took to get me here, not including the meaningless back-to-back relationships along the way, I still had that warm reserve of love in my heart ready to give one day to the right person.

No doubt I was living my best life right now, and I should, I’d worked damn hard to achieve it. I had everything a man wanted and more…a soaring career, an endless stream of money flow, expensive cars, grand property, a sought after reputation, and last but not least….unlimited fresh pussy anytime I wanted it. That last part I wasn’t opposed to giving up anytime soon.

And yet with everything I had, it at times almost didn’t seem worth it without that someone special to share it with.

Ring Ring…Ring Ring…

…on the flipside however, I fucking loved being me! I grinned to myself, as the hot piece of ass I’d met after the board meeting last week finally called me back. And suddenly an evening in with my bottle of wine while working on tomorrow’s presentation, was about to turn into an evening inside her…

‘’Hey, how are you doing? Thought you forgot about me’’ I grinned upon answering, as I leaned over and closed shut the passenger door still open from that strange girl's swift exit, before buckling up ready to get my fun on with the sexy young blonde ‘’…oh really? Well, I blame YOU for that, you didn’t want to give me your number, remember? Or were you just playing hard to get?’’ I laughed, switching my cell phone over to my other ear as I started up the engine, slowly veering the car back ready to exit out from Madison Square.

‘’…and here I was thinking you weren’t looking for a sugar daddy’’ I smirked in response to the naughty comment she made about having me buy her cake and eating it too ‘’so…how sweet are we talking? Because I should warn you sweetheart, once I get a taste for it I won’t be able to st-‘’

‘’Hello? Hudson are you there? Helloooo??’’ her voice said on repeat in my ear, but my attention was suddenly focused again on the runaway girl who’d briskly exited my car, now stood propped against a wall by a side street just outside Madison Square, painfully holding her hand to her cheek while trying to hoist over her shoulder the oversized rucksack she’d been carrying.

‘’Cassandra I’ll call you back’’

‘’Wait, what?! But I thought you wanted to see me tonig-‘’

I closed the phone and quietly cruised my way over to where the girl was slowly walking now, at the same time lowering the passenger window down as I neared her…

‘’Taylor?’’

‘’Oooh!’’ she jumped, her eyes looking like a deer in the headlights at me stupidly having frightened her with mine ‘’you scared me’’ she said looking down at me when I pulled up beside her, as recognition of who I was slowly thawed her face out, and she offered somewhat of a warm but discomforted smile.

‘’My apologies, that wasn’t my intention’’ I told her with a warm smile of my own ‘’I guess I thought you might be long gone already. But when I saw you just now I at least wanted to check, given what happened, that you were okay’’

‘’Yeah I’m…I’m okay, thanks’’

‘’Can I maybe give you a ride somewhere? It’s not safe you know for a young lady to be out on the street this late at night’’

‘’Nah, I’ll be alright’’ she lied ‘’I got an aunt who lives not too far from here who I’m staying with while in town’’

‘’Well at least let me drop you off there safely’’ I offered.

‘’I’ll be fine, really. You have a good night now sir’’ and off she went on her way again, trudging with her her heavy-looking rucksack.

‘’I still have some ice here in my car –albeit a little melted now- but enough still to at least tend to that painful-looking bruise you have’’

She turned slowly and looked at me, part hesitation, part shyness glazing her eyes ‘’it’s really no bother Taylor, I’d be happy to take you wherever you need to go’’ I offered again politely and leaned across opening up the passenger door for her to get in.

‘’Thank you Mr. Avery’’ she said timidly, and with another shy look at me finally got back inside the car, slinging her rucksack with my help into the backseat, before closing her eyes a brief moment as she touched her hands to my car's heater, before placing them down on her lap.

‘’…please, call me Hudson’’ I smiled across at her.

‘’Okay, Hudson’’ she smiled back.

‘’So, where am I taking you Taylor?’’ I said humming the engine off a moment to talk with her, as we sat parked by the exit clearing of Madison Square, which luckily for her that night happened to be my typical hangout spot en route home after a busy work day. I came by here most nights to just sit and relax a little away from the world, charge up my car, and check my usual millions of messages. I guess with my busy work life and no escape sometimes in a city of over 730 thousand people, finding a quiet unfrequented spot to relax my thoughts before heading on home, was in a way kind of precious to me. I’d been that way ever since I was a kid, always sourcing out some secret hideaway spot to get away from it all and recharge.

‘’Um…you can just drop me off at the main junction, somewhere near Charlotte Street would be great’’ she told me.

My eyes swept subtly now over her interesting grunge attire, observing her rather greasy long hair, ashy hands, and dirty fingernails. Yet amidst it all in the light of my car was a uniquely pretty face looking back at me ‘’again, it’s no bother for me Taylor, really’’ I assured her ‘‘I’d be happy to help, and would kind of prefer it if I could drop you safely at your aunt's door. That way those thugs who robbed you –who by the way could still be lurking about somewhere- won’t be tempted in trying to get their hands on you again if you’re safe behind closed doors’’

‘’Yeah, I guess you’re right’’ she said looking down in her lap.

‘’But first, before we both forget, let’s get some ice on that bruise shall we’’ I said with a kind smile. Then, with a clean napkin from my suit pocket, I lightly reached across her and scooped up a few cubes of ice from out the container of wine beside her in the drinks compartment of my car, politely ignoring the slight unpleasant smell emanating from her clothing, as I wrapped the ice in the napkin and held it lightly against her cheek.
