I sighed and opened up the message that came through from my work pal Skipp, then sighed again as he too appeared equally snippy with me, in response to the email I’d sent him while on the phone with Cassandra:

{What the hell do you mean you’re taking the day off tomorrow? You never take the day off…she better be worth it Avery} was his reply, and with a light chuckle I began messaging him back, while making my way again through the sliding glass door back into my bedroom.

It wasn’t polite of me to leave Taylor alone like that, and so I just wanted to check first that she was settling in nicely, before heading down to the car park to grab her rucksack, and while there, maybe give Skipp a call and explain about my ‘cousin from out of town’.

‘’Hey Taylor, how are you finding everything?’’ I said walking through into the main lounge area ‘’Taylor? Tayl-‘’ the neat folded pile of clothing on the couch instantly caught my eye, along with my ears tuning themselves to the sound of running water coming from within the bathroom.

I was tempted to knock and make sure she was okay, but at the same time, I didn’t want to disturb her shower. With ample understanding of the situation she’d been living in, it was with no doubt that her new surroundings would be something of an overwhelming luxury to her, one that deserved to be enjoyed in the moment at her own pace, and with no distraction. That’s how I’d come to enjoy it, and she should too.

As new as all this was, it already felt nice having a little extra life in the suite, one I know wouldn’t be leaving in a hurry, even if in the past it had been at my humble request after I was done with a date.

I selfishly liked my bachelor pad to myself when going to sleep, and female company, even of the hot kind, just never made it through to breakfast the following morning.

It wasn’t as if I didn’t enjoy having company around, but something in me always seemed to just switch off once I’d been intimate with a woman. I knew what the issue was, and I also knew my heightened sexual drive was too stubborn to address it.

I didn’t trust anymore.

Even more so now than ever before. What Jessica did to me was uncaring, hurtful, and at the time bitterly selfish. I could forgive her now, not in a way that I would ever take her back of course, but in that I’d seen more ugliness and selfish behavior from people since my rise to the top.

There was a reason the rich stayed rich and the poor stayed poor, which while extremely unfair, I’d come to learn over the years was part of the ingrained caste system in which our society lived. Greed. The world’s greatest enemy and most destructive of all the deadly sins. Greed, as much as it's needed as part of that core mind-set to propel every hungry entrepreneur to their success, it was also the root cancer of all poverty our daily planet faces.

Jessica was only lesson number one in that fact. And while I don’t wish to be defiant of wealth over success, I’ve learned to protect both my heart and my assets from anyone who comes too close, with the words my mother embedded into my mind from a young age: Beware of a quick friend and a slow enemy.

I only ever truly understood what those wise words meant when losing absolutely everything I had, before opportunity rose and I was able to re-build myself into the man I am today.

I now do what most in my field do because, well, we kind of have to, and that’s travel in similar social circles with our own. At least that way you’re surrounded by like-minded individuals, with a profound level of understanding of the prosperous life we led. Problem with that is, people more often than not fall into the trap of becoming what their friends are. Contrary to what most predicted of me, I myself was yet to be corrupted by decadence.

Having said that, being rich isn’t always what it’s hyped up to be. It can be lonely at the top. And while I certainly know how to play and have fun, once the thrill of the hunt has worn itself thin and that one-shot satisfaction achieved, all that’s ever really left is a circle of ravenous wolves in constant wait for you to slip and fall, all so they can take everything you once owned and make you nothing but yesterday’s news.

I know it shouldn’t, but it surprised me still even to this day just how disingenuous and counterfeit people can really be. To find anyone of genuine value and natural quality in today’s society, is something I secretly would trade every million I’d ever made.

My actions tonight were out of character with the lifestyle I lived, but not of my generosity if I felt someone genuinely needed it, and she did. It was the truth what I’d told Taylor earlier, in that I somewhat saw a little of myself in her. And if the new me could go back and give the old me a piece of advice...it would be to follow my instincts and not my heart.

I didn’t know where Taylor’s heart lay as far as feeling love for anyone she knew in her life, as I’d not yet learned that part of her history. But the risk she took tonight getting in my car and trusting me to look after her based on instinct alone, was indeed the right one.

I believe it important to stay sharp at all times, and keep the mind focused in a world full of chaos. One of the best ways I believe in doing that is, is to invest your spare time in a personal project you can get lost in. I didn’t class Taylor as a ‘project’ by any means, but rather a decent human being I myself was prepared to invest good time and effort into.

My eyes shifted again toward her neat folded clothing on the couch, catching a naughty glimpse of her black laced underwear tucked between her trouser and hoodie…don’t even think about it Hudson, I scolded myself. But it was too late, in just a few simple strides I’d already made my way over to the couch, taking advantage of the shower water I could still hear running in the bathroom, as my fingers reached out to touch the thin material of her G-string…

‘’Oh gee I’m sorry Hudson’’ Taylor said, heavily startling me as the shower door suddenly opened, and out she walked ‘’…I would have stuffed those filthy things into my rucksack, but I think it’s down in your car still’’ she said, trotting the petite frame of her dripping wet body over to where I was stood, all tightly wrapped inside one of my bathroom towels ‘’I um, I kinda don’t have anything else to wear right now, and I’d rather not put those mingy clothes back on now that I’m all showered and cleaned’’ she chuckled ‘’so…if it’s not too much to ask Hudson, could I perhaps maybe borrow a tee-shirt or something from you until we go shopping tomorrow?’’

I stood staring down at her…at her long dark hair damply swept to one side, lightly dripping water on the floor beside my feet…at her now smooth porcelain skin and soft faded freckles on her upper arms…at her pretty clean face with eyes so blue, so bright, they looked almost luminous…and her lips, her soft strawberry shaped lips dripping water with the rest of her body...dear god, I’m in fucking trouble now…

To anyone who knew me it was no secret I was a sucker for a beautiful woman -in particular those who managed to surprise me away from my usual expectation of the opposite sex, and in that moment …she did.

With all I’d witnessed tonight, I now found myself standing a little stunned, unable to quite believe that was the same scruffy-looking girl I’d rescued not even an hour ago in the alleyway. She was incredibly beautiful, and not just because she’d cleaned up well, but because hers was a natural beauty moist unique to any woman I’d ever encountered.

It took the full force of the gentleman in me not to rip the towel clean from her body with my teeth, and devour against the wall every inch of her wet naked frame in the sudden dominant way I wanted. Every female I’ve ever fucked will all tell you the same thing, and that’s that the man in me, behind closed doors…was anything but gentle when it came to the type of kink that teased my dick. And right now, with her standing there all dripping wet in that tiny towel, she was already proving too much of a distraction for someone now hired as my personal assistant…fuck, maybe this wasn’t such a good idea after all.

‘’Hudson? Is something the matter?’’ Taylor asked, lightly placing her hand on my upper arm and looking at me with concern.

‘’No, sorry. Of course not’’ I laughed stepping back from her ‘’I just um, I just got a lot of work things on my mind is all, which I kinda need to take care of before our day out tomorrow’’ I told her ‘’so yeah, let me go quickly grab you one of my comfy shirts to put on, oh and if you like, I can toss your clothing into the washer dryer for you. That way you’ll at least have something clean in your size to wear out tomorrow until we hit the stores’’

‘’Your kindness precedes you. Thank you, Hudson, that sounds wonderful’’ she smiled.

‘’Sure thing’’ I nodded, and swiftly ducked back inside my bedroom.
