Freak? Who the hell was she calling a freak? She was the freak with her overly long arms and legs that made her look like a praying mantis.
“Sure, but I can’t stay long.”
I sighed, the list of swear words on repeat in my head. The door closed, and the room was plunged into darkness once more.
“I’ll be right back,” Vicky said.
My eyes were closed, but I could hear the washroom door open and close. She was probably still going to try and talk him into staying. All I wanted was some sleep.
The hair on my arms stood as a soft breeze brushed my cheek a moment before his cologne hit me. “I know you’re not asleep, Princess,” Nash whispered in my ear.
I couldn’t stop myself from shrinking away from him. My pillow shifted on either side of my head, and even though I still refused to open my eyes, I knew he was leaning over me.
“What do you want?” I whispered, asking for the third time. Hoping he’d be honest then run along. I opened my eyes and Nash was right in front of my face, his nose so close to mine that if I moved at all, they would’ve touched. Ivy’s words of warning rang loud in my mind.
“I want you to know that I plan on fucking you, Princess, and I promise you’ll scream my name, and beg for more.”
I tried to swallow the giant-sized lump in my throat as my heart pounded. Nash pushed away from the bed and wandered out into the dark of the room, but I could still see his eyes and feel his presence like a caress.
Vicky came out of the bathroom, and I still fully expected this to turn into a fuckfest, but Nash shocked me again. “Look, I’m tired, I have to go.”
“But you said…”
“I know what I said.”
“But you’re still going to go?”
“It’s never enough, is it?” Nash said, his voice laced with irritation.
“What are you talking about?”
“We weren’t even supposed to see each other tonight, but I took you out to my dad’s dinner, and we hung out with friends, and yet here you are, pushing for more.”
“Shhh, keep your voice down” Vicky ordered. “I don’t want it to hear us.” It? Now I was nothing more than a thing, not even a freak. How quickly I was tumbling down the ladder.
Vicky squealed, and there was a soft thud. “First, I don’t give a fuck who hears us. Second, don’t ever talk to me like that again.”
My eyes were wide open now, and I couldn’t stop listening even if I wanted to.
“I’m sorry.” Vicky’s voice was so soft I barely heard her. “Can I see you tomorrow?”
“No.” His tone had me curling up in a ball and wanting to hide under my blankets. Why would someone ever willingly be with this guy?
Nash offered no explanation as to why Vicky couldn’t see him. He was cold and calculating, and I’d never met anyone like him. The only person I’d ever met close to this level of intense creepiness was my father’s boss, Lawrence Collier.
The door opened and closed a second later, and I sucked in a deep breath. It felt like the air had been sucked out of the room with him in here.
“Jerk,” Vicky grumbled, once the door was close.
I knew I needed to stay as far away from Nash as possible. I was never fucking him, so he could forget about adding me to the notches on his belt. The fear was would he take no for an answer, and why did he suddenly have an interest in me?
NOVEMBER 5 – FRIDAY 6:00 AM
Myles
I breathed into my hand. Yup, still minty fresh. Balancing the two coffees in one hand, I stared at the tippy takeout cups from the cafeteria and raised my other to knock. Snowflake picked that moment to open the door and walked right into my fist. My knuckles rapped off her nose hard enough that they cracked.
“Ow, shit.” She stumbled backward.
