"You don't have to tell me twice."
He jumped on the bed, attacking me with his lips, nibbling at me and kissing me tenderly. While he was being careful not to jostle the bed, worried he would make me nauseous. He brought me some toast and a banana for breakfast with some water. I love having Lucas take care of me when I am sick. No one has ever done that for me, at least not since mom left me. We cuddled together, watching some movies, while Lucas played with my hand.
"You know something, Rose?"
"No, what?"
"I don't know how I'm going to survive a week without you." He sighed, thinking about his cabin trip with his mom.
"You and I both. I've grown too accustomed to you being by my side always. Plus, you've kind of spoiled me rotten." I looked up at him from his chest, staring into those adoring brown eyes. "ButI am glad you get this time with your mom. She was genuinely touched by the gift when you guys gave it to her, so you're not allowed to pout or be sad the entire time you are there. You should, however, text me as often as you can and call me before bed every night."
"I can do that." He smiled at me, kissing my forehead. "I'm going to miss you, Rose."
"I'll miss you too, my Knight. A whole lot."
I was happy for him, glad he would have this time with his family, but I am also human and in turn selfish. I wished he could stay here with me. We will have to wait till next year for our first Thanksgiving together. I am excited to spend Christmas together at least. I need to start thinking of a present for him, but what do you even get as a billionaire?
"I'm sorry we're missing Thanksgiving together. Leo said you are welcome to come to his house and join him and his mom and his aunt who's flying down," he offered me.
"That's very sweet, but Hailey's already kidnapped me for the day. She found out you wouldn't be in town and offered for me to come to hers. Maybe I'll start my day with Hailey and end it with Leo? I don't want to turn him down after he so kindly offered."
"Sounds good to me. It makes me worry less, knowing you won't be alone." He squeezed me tightly as he spoke. "You deserve to be happy all the time, Rose."
"I don't think that's possible, but I can be happy a lot of the time."
"Fine then, a lot of the time." He captured my lips in a sweet kiss before wiggling his eyebrows at me. "I'm going to make you happy now."
He disappeared under the sheets, making me laugh. His hands slid the shirt he lent me over my hips as his fingers hooked the waistband of my underwear. He pulled them down, kissing my legs as he did. He wrapped an arm around each of my thighs, holding them firmly. He then began to devour me with his skillful tongue and wonderful mouth. I was moaning so loudly, I'd be surprised if the neighbors didn't hear me. I lost it when Lucas sucked at my clit. I shook as I came over his face. He was sweet and put my underwear back on for me. He ran off to wash off and brush his teeth.
What am I going to do without him for a week?
Chapter 39
Olive's P.O.V.
Things come faster when you're dreading them. Tonight was Lucas' last night before he leaves for his cabin trip. We decided to spend the day together, just the two of us. There was a lot of fucking…and I meana lot.He said he wanted to get his weeks worth and when he returned, he'd do it again. My legs are completely useless to me right now, having been ravished by the sex god I get to call my boyfriend.
We were talking about small silly things on the couch now. Trivial matters to keep the conversation light. We were trying to stay happy and positive, even though it felt like Lucas was taking a piece of me with him. I know I'm being dramatic. It's only a week, but still. It's a week and we haven't been apart since his accident. There’s a big difference when you go from seeing someone every day, to not at all for a week.
"Favorite memory?" He asked me.
"That's a hard one," I said, tapping my finger on my chin. "The time I snuck out of my house and met a friend. We looked at the stars and spoke about our futures for most of the night. It's the night I decided what I wanted to be. The sky looked so beautiful then, too." I admitted. I didn't want to say who the friend was, worried Lucas might be jealous of Ian.
"I'll have to thank Ian for setting you down this path. Otherwise, we would have never met. However, I plan to take the best memory spot soon." He winked at me.
"How'd you know it was Ian?"
"I'm in your junior year in your journals now. I'll be taking those with me on the cabin trip, too. I plan to be in your senior year when I return." I was surprised by the sheer number of journals he had read already. "I'm getting closer to my journals," he sang excitedly like a child.
"You really are. I better start writing more while you're gone."
"I like the sound of that." He smiled.
"What's your favorite memory?" I asked him.
"Hmm, that would be the night Ivy helped my mom get away from my dad."
My chest tightened at his answer. He had a whole life before me, one where he almost married this girl. I am sure they would be happily married if she hadn't died. I squeezed his hand comfortingly as he looked down.So much for keeping the mood light.
