I stand there for a moment in stunned silence as she turns to walk away. She only takes one step before she spins to face me again. “You do know what a clitoris is right?”
“Of course.”
“And you know how to find it? Do I need to draw you a map?”
I’m not even going to dignify that question with an answer.
Chapter9
Jacinta
I’ve been locked inside the bathroom stall for the past ten minutes and Cassie still hasn’t come to my rescue. Where is she? I thought my dramatic exit would’ve been enough of a red flag for her. I pull out my phone ready to text her, when it hits me. “Shit,” I mumble, springing to my feet and reaching for the lock on the door.
Oh, hell no!
What was I thinking leaving that demon out there with Wolf?
Although I didn’t use the facilities, I rush towards the sinks to wash my hands, because even if the Ivy is an upper-class establishment, public toilets are gross.
I use my elbow to push through the door and I only take a few steps into the corridor when I spot him.Gah.He’s looking way too sexy as he leans against the wall with his arms crossed over his chest. When his predatory gaze moves to me, he takes me in from head to toe, and when his tongue runs over his bottom lip, my stomach does a stupid flip-flop.I’m going to kill my best friend.
I dip my face and focus on the floor as I keep moving forward, all the while praying I don’t stumble again in these stupid sky-high, heels Cassie made me wear tonight. The last thing I need is to fall on my arse in front of him for a second time.
This is not my usual attire. Unlike my best friend, I prefer comfort over glamour. High heels and I don’t mix well. I’m a jeans and boots kind of girl, paired with a cute top, but since Cassandra decided tonight was Operation Lose My ‘V’ night, she made me dress accordingly.
If Wolf tries to talk to me as I pass, I’ll just ignore him. And after strangling my ex-BFF, I’m going to hightail it out of here—with my virginity still intact.
“Red,” I hear as I get closer, but I keep my head down as I pick up the pace. My heart is hammering in my chest and when I’m almost at the end of the corridor, and home free, the worst thing imaginable happens … two strong, tattooed arms wrap around my waist, lifting me off my feet. “Oh, no you don’t,” he growls, effortlessly swinging my body around until it’s plastered against the wall. He doesn’t let go until my feet are firmly planted on the ground, but once they are, he wastes no time using his arms to cage me in. I feel his warm breath caress my skin when he leans in and says, “I’ve let you run from me twice now … I refuse to let it happen a third.”
When my face remains downcast, he pulls back, gently placing his finger under my chin and raising my eyes to meet his. His rich, brown orbs are the colour of milk chocolate, and framed by thick dark lashes that any girl would be envious of.
Despite the ridiculous heels I’m wearing, he still towers over me. His gaze scans over every inch of my face, and when I hear his breath hitch in the back of his throat, I draw my bottom lip into my mouth, biting down.
“Do you have any idea how beautiful you are, Red?” he whispers. “I’ve thought about you over the past week.”He’s thought about me?“Have you thought about me too?” He raises his hand as he speaks, using his thumb to drag my bottom lip from the confines of my teeth.
“No.” But his full smile tells me he sees straight through my lie.
“I don’t believe you.”
“It’s the truth … oh, wait, there was that one time.”
“I knew it,” he says as his smile grows even bigger.God he’s gorgeous.
“Yes, it was when I got my cracked phone screen replaced … you know, the one that you broke?” Which is another lie, because it was Connor who took it to get fixed, not me. “I was wishing I had the foresight to take one of those shards of glass and stab you with it.”
He throws back his head and bursts out laughing. “You kill me, Red.”
“That would’ve been my intention.”
He taps his closed fist against his rock-hard abs. “It would take more than a sliver of phone glass to break this muscle and reach a vital organ.”
I lift one shoulder. “I would’ve given it my best shot.”
“I don’t doubt that for a second, but for your information, your mouth doesn’t turn me off, quite the opposite actually.”
I gasp when he uses his pelvis to press me further into the wall, and I feel his erection against my stomach. Knowing it’s me that has done this to him has me throbbing between the legs. It’s a feeling that is foreign to me, and for that reason alone, it scares me.
“I have to go.” Placing my flattened palms on his chest, I shove him back and try to duck under his arm, but his reflexes are too quick.
