“You have no place on that stage.”
“What I do with my life is none of your business.”
“Really,” I growl, backing her into the wall. “So, you’d be okay if I went back upstairs and got one of the girls to give me a lap dance?”
She slings her bag over her shoulder before her hands move to her hips. “You wouldn’t dare.”
“Try me,” I threaten. Her eyes lock with mine, challenging me, and although she still looks beautiful with all that gunk on her face, she’s barely recognisable. “Better still, how about I call your parents and let them know what you’ve been up to tonight?” Her mouth gapes open, but no words come out. “That’s what I thought.”
“How did you know I was here?”
“Connor, so you’re going to have to face him when you get home too.”
Her eyes narrow. “I’m an adult, I can do what I like.”
When she tries to duck under my arm, I capture her around the waist. “Not so fast, Red. I’m not finished with you yet.”
“I’ve got nothing more to say to you.”
“Tough, I have plenty to say to you.”
She opens her mouth to respond, but I cover her lips with mine, swallowing whatever sass she was going to give me. Her hands fist in my shirt, and instead of pushing me away, she tugs me closer.
We are both breathless when we finally come up for air. “Are you coming home with me?” I ask.
“To the apartment building?”
“No, to my place.” I move my hand up to cover her mouth because I need her to hear me out first. “Remember our deal? No more casual sex, next time I have you it’s for keeps, so think about that before you answer.”
Once I remove my hand, I intake a sharp breath and hold it. The smile she gives me has my heart rate kicking up a notch. Is our break finally over? Please let it be over.I impatiently wait for her reply, and the next sentence out of her mouth is the last thing I’m expecting.
“I love you, Mason Bradley.”
Chapter37
Jacinta
“You love me?” Mason asks, frowning, and that’s not the reaction I expected.
“That’s what I said.”
“Let’s get something clear, is it a friendly kind of love? Or—”
“Love, Love,” I say, cutting him off.
He lifts me off the ground, swinging me around in a circle. “You love, love me?”
“With my entire heart.”
“I love, love you too, Jacinta Maloney,” he says before his mouth bears down on me. When he draws back from the kiss, he places my feet back on the ground. “So, we’re back together?”
I lift my hand, cupping the side of his face. “If you still want me?”
“I think you know I do … I’ll always want you.”
“Are you going to hit any more walls?”
“I hope not, but please know even if I do, I’dneverhit you.”
