Sana’s frown deepened. “Even with the power of the pool, you know we can’t bring life back after it’s completely gone.”

“We have to try,” Naavi pressed.

“But it’s not possible.”

“Try!” Mikael and Soren raged together. Soren would burn this forest to the ground if they didn’t at least try to help her.

Sana looked at her sister, and then gave a reluctant nod. “Quickly, bring her to the pool.”

Naavi scooped Salara from Soren’s arms like she weighed nothing at all and followed her sister. Soren pulled Mikael to his feet and, with Mikael’s arm wrapped around his shoulder, they followed after.

The Wild held all the beauty and amazement Soren remembered, but he didn’t pay attention now. He only followed the sisters to the pool. When they reached it, they splashed into the water. Soren and Mikael followed, surprisingly with no objections. The sisters weren’t focused on Soren and Mikael—they were focused on Salara. They placed their hands on her and closed their eyes.

Soren locked eyes with Mikael. He could see his fear and felt his own fear swelling. If Salara died…

The women broke from their concentration and looked at each other, their eyes wide. “We don’t have enough strength,” Sana panted. “We need to pull more.”

“Can you use me?” Soren asked. He considered himself pretty damned strong.

“You don’t have power, you idiot,” Sana snapped.

Soren didn’t even know how to respond to that. He was about to argue that the witch had used power from Mikael, but a small, horned creature appeared and put her hand on Sana’s shoulder, and his argument left him as he realized they were surrounded by creatures. So many of them—where had they come from?

Another creature followed suit, reaching out to Sana. All the creatures of the Wild around them drew forward, placing their hands on one another, linking their strength.

Naavi and Sana closed their eyes again. Sweat beaded on their brows. Everything was quiet.Eternity in the quiet.

Tears streamed down Naavi’s face. That couldn’t be good. Soren’s heart pulsed faster. He looked at Mikael, whose own eyes were rimmed red.

And then they all stopped.

Warmth. Warmth flooded her senses.

Norah’s eyes opened as she sucked in a breath. Was she in water? She focused her eyes to see Naavi looking back at her, smiling with tears in her eyes. She smiled back.Naavi?

And then Mikael pulled her to him, holding her tight. How was Mikael here? A splash sounded beside her, and Soren leaned closer. What was happening?

And then the memories flooded her.

The war.

The battle.

How she’d used the dagger on herself to stop Cyrus.

She twisted as she clutched her chest.

Mikael gripped her hand to calm her. “You’re all right,” he said through his tears. “You’re all right.”

She stopped, and her breaths started to calm.Hewas all right. And he was here, with her.

“You came back,” he whispered.

“There was life still in her,” Naavi said.

Norah reached up and touched his face. She couldn’t take her eyes from him. He was alive, and with her. She smiled through her tears at him. “I was so scared,” she whispered. “I thought you were going to die.”

He held her tighter. “I thought youhaddied.”
