She slid open the curtain and stepped outside. He followed and introduced her to his close friends.
“Stryker and Emerson are also in the wedding party,” Prescott explained. “This is Addison’s friend, Jack—Jacqueline.”
“I met Jacqueline during a bridesmaid video chat,” Emerson said. “Good to see you.”
“You, too,” Jack replied.
“How do you two know each other?” Emerson asked.
“Addison asked me to host her,” Prescott replied.
Stryker’s eyebrows jumped into his forehead. “You just met?”
“Uh-huh,” Jack replied. “Yup, that’s us. We just met.”
Stryker laughed. “It didn’tsoundlike you just met.”
Prescott bit back a smile.
“Get in there, wife,” Stryker said. “There’s something in that booth that’s got my boy all jazzed up.”
Emerson laughed. “Jacqueline, how’s your assignment working out?”
“It’s okay,” Jack replied.
“What do you do?” Stryker asked.
“I’m with the FBI,” Jack said.
Prescott flicked his attention in her direction. “You’re with the Bureau?”
“Are you guys in line?” asked a guest behind them.
The line for the photo booth was ten couples deep. “We’ll come find you,” Emerson said before she and Stryker disappeared inside.
After he and Jack stepped away from the entrance, she said, “Let’s go play a game.”
As they made their way across the lawn, she came to abrupt stop.
“My heel’s stuck in the grass.” After tugging out her stiletto, she wrapped her fingers around his arm. “This is for support.”
“You are the only person here who can grabanybody part of mine.” He flashed her a smile. “In fact, I encourage it.”
“You think that’s actually gonna happen?”
“Not ruling it out.”
The flirty banter continued while they played the giant lawn version of Connect Four. Being around her was addictive. As intense as she was at the club, she was super chill now. She didn’t say much, didn’t ask any questions either. She seemed to like hanging with him, and he was good with that.
Damn good.
Liv and Jericho were calling guests over to play the Wheel of Fun. A six-foot game wheel that could land on: Bride and Groom Kiss, Kiss Your Date, Pick a Couple to Kiss, Show Us Your Best Dance Move, and several more.
He and Jack pulled up alongside Hawk and Addison as Stryker and Emerson, and Cooper and Danielle, joined the group.
As more partygoers gathered around, Liv spun the wheel.
It landed on the Bride and Groom Kiss. The crowd hooted while Hawk pulled his fiancée into his arms and kissed her. The lingering kiss had a guest shout, “Save something for the honeymoon.”
