“Hurray! I have a daddy!” Then, he asked, “What about Jack? Is she and Loki in our family too?”
“Of course,” Prescott explained. “Do you remember what we talked about?”
“As soon as you and Jack get married, she can get her permission to be my second mommy.”
“Tell everyone what you’re going to call me?” Jacqueline prodded.
He grinned at her. “Mama Jack, so we always remember my first mommy.”
Jacqueline smiled. “That’s right.”
“I have a daddy and two mommies!”
More happy applause and cheers from the fam as Rebel and Brit walked into the room.
“Hi,” Brit said to everyone.
“This is my sister, Britain,” Addison announced as she put her arm around her younger sister.
“What’d we miss?” Rebel asked.
“Uncle Prescott is my daddy!” Ethan announced.
Rebel high-fived Ethan. “That’s great, bud.”
Ethan beamed. “This is the best day ever!”
Prescott set him down, and he ran over to play with his toys. The chatter resumed, the television was unmuted, and happy sounds filled Prescott’s once too-quiet home.
Prescott asked Rebel, “Did you take my bike out?”
“No. Addison’s sister wanted a house tour, so I gave her one.”
Prescott chuckled. “It must have beensometour.”
“Why’s that?”
“You got bed head.”
Rebel raked his hands through his long hair. “You still sellin’ your motorcycle?”
“It’s yours, if you want it.” Prescott squeezed Rebel’s shoulders. “When shit went down during the cult mission, you were there for me.”
“Goes both ways. I got my ass outta there in time, ‘cause of you.” He turned toward the group. “I’m taking Prescott’s motorcycle for a trial run. Anyone want a ride?”
Britain stepped forward. “I’ll go with you.”
“I don’t think so,” Z said.
Britain laughed, then kissed her dad on the cheek. “I love you, Daddy.”
“Does that mean you’renotgetting on the motorcycle?” Z asked.
“Uh-huh,” Brit replied with a gleam in her eyes.
“You got extra helmets?” Rebel confirmed.
Prescott nodded before Rebel and Britain exited into the garage, shutting the door behind them.
