He shot her a smile. “Not until we work our next case together.”

“What does that mean?”

“Z called you, but you were reading Ethan a bedtime story, so he called me.”

“And?” She held her breath.

“Babe, don’t you want Z to tell you?”

She kissed him. “No, I want to hear it from my man.”

“You can relocate with the Bureau to the DC office or—”

“Or?”

“You can join ALPHA as an Operative, which means, we’d partner on some missions.”

Excitement soared through her. “Well, that’s a no-brainer. I’d get to work with Addison too. I can start in a week.”

“I’m sure you could ask for two.”

“What would I do with all that extra time?”

He set down their glasses, cradled her in his arms, and rose off the sofa. “Me,” he replied. “You’d do me.”

“Yes,” she whispered before nibbling his ear.

He carried her into their bedroom and locked the door. After she stripped him naked, he untied her robe, slid his hands under the silky material, and pushed it off her shoulders.

Then, he stepped back and gave her a once-over. “Wow, you are sexy.” After kissing her, he said. “You look fantastic, baby.”

Together, they tumbled into bed. Her lips found his, her kisses turning ardent. She was finally free. Free from looking over her shoulder, no longer terrified that Maul would find her.

Jacqueline loved Prescott with a fervor that left them both breathless. He was hers… all hers, for the rest of her life.

In the afterglow of lovemaking, as he held her in his arms, she asked him if he wanted more children. Lifting her head off his chest, she peered into his eyes.

“Before Ethan, I didn’t think about kids,” he said. “My career and the company were my life.” He entwined his fingers through hers and kissed her warm skin.

“What about now that you’ve got a child?”

“I’d have a whole litter of them, but that’s just because I have an amazing woman to raise them with.”

“I love that our story is different, that we became a family in our own way.”

“Me, too, babe,” he replied. “Doyouwant children?”

“Absolutely. I would love for Ethan to have siblings, but there’s a lot of other things that I want to happen first.”

“Like?”

“Well, I need to move back east, start my new job, get married.”

“In that order?”

She laughed. “Thatwouldbe the most organized, but then, where’s the mayhem?”

“Whereisthe mayhem?”
